Howdy, happy Wednesday!

I deserve a badge for surviving this morning (so far) without maiming either of my kids.  This is seriously how it went:

  • Kid woke me up by asking whether school was cancelled.  Checked 4 sources, and no, it isn't.
  • The snow was at least 6" deep, sticky, and heavy.
  • Reminded my kids they need to take a shower.  The kid with white paint in her hair tried to talk me out of it.  No dice.
  • Checked again for closings, because last time, they didn't announce it until we were half ready.
  • Gathered the upstairs garbage while reminding my kids we need to leave early.  Received sass.  Flushed a toilet since that's too high level for my kids to remember.
  • While I was making  my coffee (aka my "don't kill the children juice"), pup started whining.  The person on pup duty was on a conference call, so I took the pup out.  Turns out he just wanted to play in the snow.  The timing was not perfect.  (He was super cute though.)
  • Put on 3 layers of warmth and carried out my coffee and the garbage.
  • Cleaned off the car, well enough to drive.
  • Took the garbage to the curb.
  • Made it 2/3 of the way to school without trouble; was feeling pretty hopeful.
  • Took a "short cut" just in case.
  • The short cut exit was blocked by a car trying to turn left onto a very busy street during rush hour.
  • The snow on top of my car slid down onto my windshield.  It was too heavy for my wipers, which stopped working.
  • My kids found this all very humorous.
  • My kid tried clearing the snow, but the wipers still didn't work and I couldn't see.
  • I jumped out and cleared the windshield enough to drive, and finally was able to proceed.
  • WIpers still didn't work and visibility was poor.
  • My kids continued chuckling until I threatened them with walking the 3 miles to school tomorrow.
  • In the school driveway, looks like we're gonna be on time UNTIL ... the car in front of me decides they're gonna turn left in 2-way school traffic.  SERIOUSLY YOU IDIOT?  About a minute later she realizes this is not gonna happen and proceeds forward.
  • Finally I drive into the parking lot, let my kids out, and figured out how to repair my wipers.
  • Texted reminders kuz my kid has forgotten to do 2 things every day for the past week.
  • Laughed all the way home.
  • Took the pup out so he could play some more in the snow.

Aside from that, I have caught up on my usual morning things - emails, calendar, social media, news, and checked the kids' grades.  (They didn't get a tardy today, so yay me, LOL.)

My kid's track meet for today was cancelled (imagine that), but they still have practice, and my genius kid didn't think to bring practice shoes or water "just in case," so I need to remember to bring some when I go to pick up the other kid.

The snow is rapidly melting, as expected in April.  It was seriously so pretty.

To do:

  • Lots more coffee.
  • Lots of client work.
  • Bills and organizing.
  • Kid driving after school - remember to bring Kid1's shoes and water when picking up Kid2 (who has horse riding).
  • Exercise and eat good stuff.
  • Make the kids show me they're up to date on homework and stuff.
  • May or may not need to ask a teacher to allow test corrections.  50% on a quiz covering days my kid was out of town.  It's 70% of the overall grade so really not OK.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Wow, what a day SKL!

We got up and moving this morning. DS is working for a friend but we had to drop the truck off at the mechanic’s shop.

So far done:

Call the phone co - add a line and buy a phone

Stop by the PO and a $0.20 stamp to all of DD’s wedding invitations! 😂 That wax seal added weight!

 Poetry with littles

Now:

Listen to Gathering of Days while we drive to my Mom and Dad’s to deliver a flower.

Deliver the flowers (Azaleas!)

The afternoon is up in the air.

Good afternoon!

Scout, I'm sorry you will fall apart!

SKL, I can't imagine snow in April!

Kelly, how soon is the wedding? I pray it all goes smoothly!

The Zoom classes finished. One more to go, and this is a single student who today is his last day until later summer.

Well, the day is still young, but it gets wayyy better!

I got a call from the school.  My kid is in quarantine until May 5 because she sat within x feet of someone with you-know-what.

Just re-worked the calendar, rescheduled her dental appointment, informed teachers and coaches etc. and am thinking through how to manage my other kid so we don't end up with quarantine on top of quarantine.

(Needless to say, I am not getting much client work done today ....)

SKL, that really stinks. I'm sorry and pray you all stay healthy!

I didn't stop on the way home because I don't really have my final list done. I will leave in time to go by on the way there.
