alysee Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I have 2nd graders, 3rd grader and 5th grade. I try and read at least a half hour each day to the kids together. I usually have a long list of books that I want to read but we have run out of ideas(and with our current lockdowns can't physically go to a bookstore) so we need some ideas. We have read this year(since September 2020) The WitchesThe BFGTale of DespereauxTales from Dimwood Forest SeriesThe Night FairyThe Chronicles of Narnia Wild Robot wild Robot Escapes 1 Quote
WildflowerMom Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 Mine is an adult now. But 'The Year of Miss Agnes' was good at that age. The 'Fudge' books by Judy Blume are a must-read. Quote
sweet2ndchance Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 We are currently reading "Odd and the Frost Giants" by Neil Gaiman with my second grader. Even dh is enjoying it though lol. The Trumpet of the Swan was a hit this year. Despereaux was a flop oddly. Wishtree is up next for us. An easy way to get a whole list of books would be to go through the book lists for curriculums like Build Your Library, Bookshark or Sonlight. Some more suggestions: Madame Pamplemousse series by Rupert Kingfisher Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin (and others by the same author) Tales of Magic series by Edward Eager The Penderwicks series by Jeanne Birdsall The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place series by Maryrose Wood 1 Quote
Pintosrock Posted April 15, 2021 Posted April 15, 2021 I have just a second grader. We read the entire series last summer. Usually, I'll only read one book in a series then take a break, but this series was that good. Quote
