Jean in Newcastle
I am literally black and blue from falling off of that thing. I have a really weak core which is what I'm working on with the ball to begin with. But it's really only by luck that all I've come away with is some bruises. Is there something I can put to stabilize this thing and keep it from rolling out from under me? The hardest is trying to do crunches on this thing. I do put my legs out wide and that helps but not totally.
WildflowerMom
Can you put it on top of a yoga mat?
WildflowerMom
They also have bases for them on Amazon. 3
Lecka
Would it help to put your feet against the wall for extra support? Maybe plus other ideas?
Pawz4me
Here's a base. This one is inflatable. Amazon has many to choose from. 1
Katy
Yes, try a base.
Junie
(((Jean))) I agree with a base. Or you could train Juliet and the bunnies to lay down next to it.

I have to keep her away too so that she doesn't accidentally pop it!
kbutton
Hmm...my son's PT is kind of leery of exercise balls as universal exercise equipment. Maybe you need a little PT before starting it. Otherwise, maybe on a yoga mat with some rolled up towels tucked around it from several directions.

I am now working with a personal trainer who works out of the PT office.
alisoncooks
Maybe this style exercise ball would work better? Still wobbly but won't roll out sideways from under you. https://www.amazon.com/Milliard-Anti-Burst-Approximately-100x50cm-Exercise/dp/B00N9HDUWQ/ref=pd_aw_fbt_img_1?pd_rd_w=E0QWe&pf_rd_p=b7c0c74c-d9cb-44de-9201-48f1442aab87&pf_rd_r=TH1BJ49XGYAFBZ47X1H7&pd_rd_r=9e8a9486-343c-4bff-89f8-860f8ba28881&pd_rd_wg=MXdec&pd_rd_i=B00N9HDUWQ&psc=1 Edited April 14, 2021 by alisoncooks
Tap
I have rolled up a blanket and made a donut out of it. It kept the ball fairly stable for times when you want the ball to stay in one place.
KungFuPanda
Maybe do exercises without the ball? It sounds like it's not terribly safe for you and you can exercise all of those muscles without fear of falling. Once your core is stronger, you can always add the ball back later. You should be coming away with sore muscles, not bruises.
Amy in NH
Can you under-inflate the ball so that it has a flat spot when you put your weight on it?
Matryoshka
Get a bosu instead? It's like a half-ball with a base.
