My husband's birthday is around the corner. He is an avid biker and owns both mountain and road bikes.

My youngest son wants to get him something unique and is willing to spend up to $1,000. Ideas welcome! And TIA!

Not a biking gift exactly, but related and kind of different. A close friend was a mountain biker, and she made the most amazing bike gear jewelry (unisex).  She used actual bike gears and parts, and sold it in expensive tourist boutique shops.  She has passed away, but I am positive you can find something similar. Her work started in the $200 range for a men’s bracelet and went up from there.

Her work is probably still in some shops in HI.  😊

Tools/shop set up?

Indoor trainer and Zwift account for bad weather days?

Cyclists tend to love their bling, so a new jersey and bibs? And of course fun socks.

Heart rate monitor/ new watch/ cycling computer?

If he is a wine drinker, look into a Campagnolo corkscrew.  Expensive ($300?), but very cool to a lot of cyclists.

Practical - a Garmin Varia radar and headlight - and a Garmin watch or cycling computer that is compatible, if he doesn't always own one.  This could be over $500 or be as inexpensive as maybe $250 (?) if he doesn't need the cycling computer.  If he rides on the roads, he will come to appreciate the radar very quickly!

A wheel-off smart trainer if he's into indoor riding (and a Zwift account)

I'm sure I can think of more if none of these is appealing!

Thank you all!

I might buy something for dh myself from all of your suggestions. He is majorly into biking especially now that he's retired. Does centuries and bikes every day, used to bike to work 20 miles each way. Very into it. He is on a bike ride right now as it happens to be.

M son has decided to buy him a new road bike. Ds called up dh and pretended that he was going to buy a bike for himself and asked dh what bike would be the best. Dh mentioned his three favorite models and now ds is trying to hunt one down. The two are going bike riding on dh's birthday, and ds is going to arrive on the new bike and then hand it over and retrieve his own bike from our bike room. This should be a good surprise if all goes well!
