Figure out dinner. Maybe nachos/taco salad?

YNAB

Log yesterday’s tutoring sessions.

Set up new laptop?

Go by mom’s apt.
Take Ds to visit my mom. Take Easter lily.

Get new notebooks for Ds.
Finish Easter basket shopping.

yay on returning the rental car, Amy (or, maybe not...? Does that mean you guys found something, or just that the rental time is up?? I need to go read the weekend posts.....)

Still waking up, but, here's my list:
....more coffee
....prep all the 2nd grade stuff
....triple check when, exactly, we get to WWII so I can invite the 1st grader that's moving, who wants to not miss WWII (his cousin is in that class, so he can come with cousin) -- we need to get to it before he moves
....school with DS -- DH/DS both forgot he was supposed to do his geography test while I was at school Monday, so have to do that plus the other stuff
....grocery shop
....umm, before grocery shop (maybe) -- figure out how to combine March Madness & Easter for Saturday -- think we can have an all-red Easter???
....check the status of all the laundry, do whatever needs doing there
....call the quilt shop and sign up for the club I want to join (or see how to actually do that)
....I think that's all, but probably something else (oh, ha, figure out dinner)

Have a good day!

Howdie, happy Tuesday!

Today is a day for getting over what I can't control and getting focused on what I can control.

Puppy has been naughty recently.  Last night it was another adult's turn to take him out before sleeping, but he wouldn't comply (she doesn't have the physical ability to go pick him up from his pen) and he ended up soiling his pen.  😕  This morning I cleaned up, crated him, washed and dried the waterproof rug, put the pen all back together, and put him back in it (he had recently been outside so it should have been safe).  I put his water in there and left him to play happily.  A while later, he had overturned his water and eaten a piece off the bottom of the dish holder.  I made him spit it out and took away the water & holder.  Then, I don't know whether it was intentional or not (probably was), he peed in his pen again.  Ugh.  Pup is back in the crate, rug is back in the washer.  He was doing so well ... this is why one shouldn't speak too soon.  And I don't have time for this today.  I am up against some big deadlines that really should have been done already.  Ugh!!  I should find some way to make a safe play area for him outside.

Done:

  • Cleaned puppy mess, twice, and did various other puppy stuff.
  • Drove kids to school on time, yay!
  • Caught up on emails, calendar, news, social media, and checked the kids' grades.
  • A tiny bit of house work.
  • Working on coffee 3.

To do:

  • Lots of client work.
  • More puppy stuff.
  • Pay bills.
  • Amazon orders, returns.
  • Pick up kids, go to pet store and buy some dishes that can't spill.
  • Make the kids do any unfinished work for Q3 since tomorrow is the last day of the quarter.  (Hopefully there isn't any past due work, but ....)
  • Exercise and TKD form practice.
  • Laundry.
  • Whatever else gets done.

oh, shoot; SKL, you remind me that DS also has "do unfinished work" on his list. Grr. I forgot. :sigh:

Sorry the puppy is still having accidents. Is the other adult able to leash him up when it's her turn, and walk him out of the pen? (assuming it has a removable section/door/etc. vs always requiring a lift over the side....?)  Can those puppy potty pads be put in his pen at night to help with this issue until he learns to wait/comply? Or paper, etc....? Puppies are so cute, but so.much.work. in the beginning.

That's not naughty behavior, that's 100% normal puppy behavior. Puppies go to the bathroom in the house because they are babies and don't have good bladder control, just like human babies, plus it takes a lot of time and repetition for them to learn to consistently go to the bathroom outside. What works for us is to take the puppy out every half hour on the dot, and still expect them to have plenty of accidents in the house while they are learning.

He previously only peed in his pen 1x, so this should not have happened, but I'm trying to be sensible about it.  I keep telling everyone (and myself) that it's an investment.

Pretty sure he's going to be crated at night for a while.

Ok, my day is hijacked by stuff I forgot I needed to do.

Take Ds to get a haircut, then shopping for hiking boots and football cleats. Probably out for lunch.

Reader, our time is up. We haven't found anything yet, but we have spring break next week, which will give us some time to look.

Morning student is done. Afternoon student canceled.

Breakfast and lunch are done.

I will go out and do a couple errands since I don't have the student and still have a car.

struggling with planning out the remainder of 2nd grade history for the year.....I have this week sorted, but next up is WWI, WWII, etc. and I've got more chapters left than weeks. Trying to figure out what to combine (and wishing I'd have tacked this week's onto last week's which would have helped greatly....making a note for next year).

Need to prep science for tomorrow, then will tackle the "rest of the year' stuff this weekend.

Roofer is coming today, not tomorrow (which is good)

Took out meat for tacos for dinner tonight

DH says wait on groceries until Thursday, so will do that

Guessing no nap today b/c roofers, so........maybe yet more coffee needed.....

Got cleats and a mouth guard. Decided the boots are too pricey retail. We’ll find them on Ebay for $50 less.

Got a salad at Zaxby’s - meh. Not impressed.

Visiting mom now.

I went to the pet store and bought un-flippable bowls, a rope toy, and a 3' high ex pen for the patio.  (So pup can enjoy some outdoor time without being attached via leash to a human.)  This won't solve all of our challenges, but I feel happy about it.  🙂

Sent out 2 client reports and got a good start on a 3rd, plus did a few other minor client things.  Better than some days.  🙂 I do need to do a bunch overnight, but I'm giving myself a break for the moment.

Tomorrow is the last day of Q3 at school.  Per the grade book, Kid1 has zero unfinished work, and as for Kid2, I can't really tell (slow grading teacher), but I don't think so.  So I am not nagging.  Kid1 is watching a K-drama for the Nth time and Kid2 is sleeping.

Did school with DS, including the stuff he was supposed to do yesterday. not including the "you missed these things, turn them in later" stuff (except the one that we found that she had already graded). The others are lab reports that were done during class, and I'm thinking of writing her a note for him to turn in saying we can't locate these, but as they were completed in class, perhaps she can reference her attendance records, see that he was there, and give him partial credit based on that. Particularly as she is allowing them to opt out of the dissections (which these are for), unbeknownst to me when we signed him up for this class, and he opted out and has just been observing the dissections......so what exactly does he put on the lab report then?? (he says none of them drew anything from the last one, so......?????)

took a much longer nap than planned, despite the roofer

DH says the roof job was very very brief, so perhaps/hopefully it will be less $$ than quoted also since they only did one thing, not the rest; if they try to charge the full amount.....that should be interesting.

Finishing up the 2nd grade stuff now, but very allergy-brained at the moment (oak pollen is crazy-high rate now) -- I got all of it printed before my nap except the science stuff, which is ready to go, just need to print and then make a list/"shopping list" for math and print that

Y'all, today I am sad. While visiting my mom, it became very clear that she will never really walk again. She cannot go from a chair or the bed to standing without help. Her steps are a slow painful shuffle with her feet barely off the ground. She thinks that she can do more than she really can. It is really hard to see my mom so unable; she has always been so capable. It will be ok in that she is moving into assisted living with plenty of help for all her needs. And she can go and do in a wheelchair - restaurants, my kids' piano recital, Dd's musical theater performance, Scout/AHG ceremonies. But she will never get to be in my home (or any home?) ever again because they are inaccessible.  I am thankful that her mind is sharp and she is still herself.

And today would have been my dad's 89th birthday. He died 24 years ago of lung cancer (from second-hand smoke).
