ProudGrandma Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 What brand is it and do you like it? I am seeing all sorts of brands that I have never of before (Cosmo, Galanz, Sharp)...and I am a bit nervous about stepping outside of the "normal brands"...tell me what you have. Thanks. Quote
Kassia Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 (edited) I have a GE but it's very old - bought it in 1997 when our house was built. I love it and can't believe how long it has lasted with heavy use (I hope I didn't just jinx it). Edited March 28, 2021 by Kassia Quote
Ellie Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 The first one was a Whirlpool. It lived for over 15 years and then one day it just...quit working. Now I have a Frigidaire. It's maybe a year old. So far, so good. One of the reasons I bought each one is that the turntable can be turned off, so that you can cook a large dish that won't be able to turn, like a 9x12 baking dish. Also a turkey. I once cooked a turkey in there. It wasn't bad. 🙂 Quote
ProudGrandma Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 I dont' think anything is built to last 15 years anymore. The microwave that just died in my home was purchased in the fall of 2014....and it's a LG. Quote
HeartString Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 I have a Kenmore one. It works fine as a microwave but it is almost useless as a vent. The vent part only sort of works if the microwave door is open. Quote
Pawz4me Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Samsung. It was here when we bought the house five years ago, but I'm pretty sure it was fairly new at that time. I know some Samsung appliances have a bad reputation, but I really like the microwave and Samsung range. Quote
Tina Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Last one was a GE microwave/convection oven. Never did use the convection oven- didn't take the time to figure out using it, but dh said this was it so I took it! Current one is a Whirlpool. Quote

It died three months ago and I replaced it with a Cafe model. I like it. It heats faster and has a nice two tone metal look with dark gray interior. You can’t see the inevitable stains/burn marks this way. Quote
klmama Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Ours is a newer Whirlpool. It works well. You can turn off the turntable, if needed. Quote
Farrar Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 GE. But I don't recommend it. There are these new ones now that are really skinny. That's what I want. Quote
