We have weirdly specific requirements and due to surgeries and NICU stays, we have less money than planned. However—something came on the market yesterday that meets most of our requirements(it’s missing a fourth bedroom but has a finished basement that can be converted according to my contractor husband). We put an offer in tonight, over asking price with 20% down in cash and waived the inspection. We know they already have one offer that isn’t quite as good as ours, but of course it’s still up in the air. So fingers crossed! Edited: The estate accepted the offer! Walking in just felt like home, something I’ve never really felt in the house we’ve lived in for eleven years. We bought our house in 2010 for dirt cheap and put a lot of work into it. It’s almost completely remodeled, but we turned out to dislike the location and the layout. But every time we had 20% saved for a new house something else would happen that wiped our savings. The last two years we’ve been able to make good headway, just in time for the housing market here to turn crazy and bidding wars on houses.
