TheReader Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) Good morning! Today I have..... ....coffee ....get DH to change my toner cartridges in my printer ....print the stuff I need for the 4 yr old ....go tutor the 4 yr old, and visit (distanced, b/c she's in her travel quarantine/still only half-vacc'ed) great-grandma to the 4 yr old/my friend just back from the Mexico house for this half of the year ....lunch -- DH has finally reached "everybody get your own lunch" level, a little over a year past the start of him working from home, which is honestly kind of a relief (he handled lunch, generally, but still....) ....school with DS ....remember to help him make flashcards to study....wash the quilt It's in the washer, with 3 color-catchers..... ....pick what I want to quilt next, start on that ...fold the laundry from yesterday ....dinner is either the chicken/corn stuff, or firepit stuff, depending -- DH has to start a brisket, so hang out outside, so we may just firepit and hang out with him for a bit ....tutor 4 yr old cancelled, so switch to print/file K stuff & print/file 1st grade stuff -- done with K Have a great day, everyone! TheReader Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) and, the quilt, with binding -- quilted each section with straight lines, but in each section, they go a different direction; this was to unify the lights, darks, mediums, etc. despite the very different piecing style in each area of each section. I used a lightweight red thread for the quilting. The binding is a red/salmon/peach/cream diagonal stripe that echoes the quilting and blends well with all the colors 🙂 I am beyond pleased with this (assuming the pic shows up....) TheReader Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Well, the 4 yr old and family all have cough/stuffy/runny nose, spreading through the house like wildfire, so I'm staying home today. Even with a mask and semi-distancing (hard to fully distance a four yr old), really don't want to risk it and then carry that through my house and my K/1st kiddos on Monday. Which means I'm fully prepped for next week now (yay), DH fixed my printer so I can use "tutor the 4 yr old" time for printing/loading my bag for my Monday stuff (and DH says maybe we'll go to the nursery in a bit.....he's got empty spots for trees, thanks to the freeze/winter storm, so now he's itching to pick out replacements.....) Grabbing some real breakfast then since I now have time. 3 Quote
SKL Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 This morning the kids woke me up at 6am asking if the school was closed. I checked, it wasn't. Then a half hour later, it was. Power outages. We had some serious wind overnight (plus a thunderstorm). With the kids home, I told them to take care of the pup and went back to sleep. Unfortunately, they trusted the pup too much, or maybe the pup didn't like some of what Mother Nature was doing outside. Whatever the reason, Mama had laundry to do by 9am. 😕 Now I'm distracted and kids are downstairs arguing with adults. Need to focus on work. I have things that really need to go out today. Done: Puppy laundry and related tasks. A tiny bit of house cleaning. A tiny bit of client work. Caught up on emails, calendar, news, social media, and checked the kids' grades. Working on coffee 2. 4 Quote
mom31257 Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Reader, that is simply amazing!! Scout, I pray you feel better soon! SKL, I'm sorry your day didn't start so well. I pray it improves! Dd is here. I made the kids breakfast, and we talked a bit. Now they are playing a video game (although it isn't much of a game, it's diving and swimming in the ocean). I'm working on lesson plans for next week, so I have more of the weekend free. 1 3 Quote
SKL Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) LOL I forgot to list my to-do's before hitting "submit." Maybe an act of my subconscious? To do: Lots of client work. Puppy chores. Arrange my TKD step test. Make chiro appointments. "Yoga etc." and TKD form practice. Pay some bills. Kid2 to horse riding. Would like to make it to TKD and test today. Dinner out. Whatever else gets done. Edited March 26, 2021 by SKL 1 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 (edited) Feeling better after some food, coffee and Tylenol. That second dose knocked me flat for a while! I still have a tiny bit of a headache and a sore arm. Lots of deskwork today: Begin working on getting my mom's stuff moved! Ugh. Just need to get this done. Tired of it hanging over my head.Try to figure out a vacation plan with a friend. Plan A not working. Need to brainstorm new options. Tutor one student and log session. Make a grocery list and see if I can get a pick up time today or not. Figure out dinner. Check AlgebraYNAB Edited March 26, 2021 by ScoutTN 3 Quote
TheReader Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Amy, thank you!!! I love it so much. It just came out of the dryer, and the color catchers worked, and it is so soft and cuddly now. :swoon: SKL, probably a little of both (kids/Mother Nature) with the puppy; sorry about that! Scout, glad you are feeling a bit better! Okay, had lunch, had a nap, sorted a few issues with my printer (it keeps, sometimes but not always, telling me it has a memory full problem but I cannot find a way to remove data from the memory, like clear the print log or something.....). Finally broke down and bought the new(er) version of Office, b/c I was tired of mine always messing up (and randomly making my keyboard not work). DH got his wood delivery, now on the driveway. Later we will help him move it to the backyard to stack it up. Went ahead and combined shirts/socks/undies into one load and that's in the dryer now. Going to print the 1st grade stuff, give DS a "30 min warning" and then go do school with him. 2 Quote
mom31257 Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 Scout, I'm so glad you feel better! We got the call that our car is a total loss. I don't remember if I posted or not yesterday, but we qualified for an extra grant from ds' school for another $5000. I'm so thankful we got that great news yesterday before getting the news about the car today! Little blessings like that make me grateful. The biggest hassle is finding a used, reliable car. 3 Quote

TheReader Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 2 hours ago, TravelingChris said: Which version did you have giving you problems? I still had Office 2010 or something like that. Support had ended in October, and after that, it started making my keyboard not work (on my laptop) - I could literally be doing anything else with no problem whatsoever, but *sometimes* in Word it would not register that I'd hit a key, so I'd type "My name is Reader and I enjoy my To-Do List Group on the WTM Forums" and inside Word it would come out as "Mnae i Rderand I enoy T-DoLit Grponth WTM orums" -- except, I would of course not actually type that, I'd have to stop, press the missed key 2-4 times and finally get it to register, etc., etc., etc. in order to type what I wanted. Alternately, every time my computer would update, it would want to install the free trial version, instead, so when I'd go to open something I had saved, it would take me through that whole thing and I'd have to close out, go to where *my* Word was, open the program, let it go through the set-up process all over again, including the part where I had to tell it "ignore" three times b/c it couldn't find some font or something-or-other, and *then* it would let me open my saved files again. So finally I just went ahead and purchased the (single user, single purchase) Office 2019 (as a download, b/c of course software does not come as discs anymore) (but from Amazon, which was about $15 cheaper than going directly through Microsoft), so now it works again. So far. 1 Quote
TheReader Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Oh, Amy, I'm so sorry about the car, but yay for the extra grant for DS's school! Yay! Best of luck car shopping; that is so stressful. Did school with DS, went to the store to buy extra memory/hard drive/something for oldest's laptop, the clerk directed us to the wrong one (DH thought so, but the guy was very confident, so DH trusted him.....turns out, DH was right, so now we have to go back and exchange it)(tomorrow, though). Stopped and got "Oh, it's the week before Easter, we should do something with that..." stuff for my classes for this week. Ordered supplies for a history craft for 1st grade, as the local shop didn't have what I needed for a reasonable price. Confirmed with the prospective student that they'll come this Monday to observe, so need to remember to print those forms for her to sign, and print an extra copy of everything for class for her son to participate. 1 1 Quote
TravelingChris Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I didn't make a list today. I had only maybe 2 hours and 40 minutes sleep but I am sure it was less. First, my awful body decided that hey, its time to go to sleep, lets have urgent trips to bathroom. Which resulted in me falling asleep slightly over an hour past when I wanted. Then, I woke up needing to go to the restroom again, and was very sleepy. Then my portable wound vac started beeping. Not being able to see well (because I need new glasses which are coming in about a week and a half), and trying to keep down the light so I could get back to sleep, I thought the vac was doing its usual container is full or line is blocked- which happens if you kink the line or sometimes just because. THe solution is turn off machine and turn on again and start it again-- sometimes you have to do this several times. Well since the machine needs to be within 19 inches of my wound (or so ) I ended up doing about fifty sit-ups plus overreaches of my arm, etc before dh - who did sleep through much of it, was awoken enough times, and asked me if I could just turn alarm off and deal w it in morning. I was so extremely tired that I pressed the alarm button, did turn it off, but forgot that it only works for 2 to 3 minutes. Than I just decided to leave and figure it out and let dh sleep. I went away and turned on full lights and saw it said, warning leak. I have a book with what to do with warnings and I followed it- it said leaks are usually in the area of the wound bandaging. So I put more bandaging on. Didn't work. Called the call nurse and after phone tag because I had put my phone on silent too, that person told me to take off bandage and put on wet/dry dressing. I made a tasty oatmeal breakfast, dh slept late, and I had made an early appt with therapist so I ended up eating while I talked. Then I got some other stuff done (can't remember now but remembered that I was being productive) and then the nurse came. He put on a new special dressing for the portable wound vac and changed the container Unfortunately, his parents l had a large chicken house that was destroyed in the tornado. THat was the same tornado that went right by dd2's boyfriend's appt and was also not far from hers too and destroyed so much of their haunting areas as well as so many houses, businesses, parts of Oak Mountain State Park, etc and had already been on the ground in western Al. I did call and ask to change to telehealth with my neurologist and a sooner appt. And left a thank you message on the phone of the lady who sent me a card in the hospital. Eating dinner now and going to watch something and hopefully sleep early. 2 Quote

TheReader Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Forgot about time change (again) so when I finally finished all my school prep stuff and it was 7:30 already (but not even dusk!), we pivoted from the casserole that has to bake for an hour, to hotdogs. On the stovetop. With Fritos chips, chili, and cheese. oops. DH is prepping the brisket for tomorrow's BBQ (He's smoking it overnight), we're hanging out keeping him company, then he's going to bed early and I will stay up and watch all my recorded TV until I get tired. 1 Quote
