The Hubble space telescope launched 31 years ago.

This makes me feel very old.  I was 13 and so excited.  Then there was the disaster when the first images came back.  Three years later, the space shuttle Endeavor went up to fix it with five spacewalks, which is still a record.

Yeah I have no real memory of the Hubble. I did read a great kids book called The Orange Girl by Jostein Gaarder which had a Hubble telescope sub-plot, which really made you understand how incredible it was.
