One thought I had is that perhaps you can go to an urgent care clinic today, and they can see what kind of bacteria might still be lingering.  As long as you'll probably need to go on a second round of antibiotics, you'll want to be sure and go on one that will target the exact bacteria you have.

I had a UTI a few years ago, and felt I'd kicked it after going on antibiotics.  But over the next few days the UTI feeling returned.  The doctor explained that probably I had a couple different kinds of bacteria, and the first antibiotic took care of one of them, but then the second type had a chance to grow more and become a problem.  They tested the bacteria so that they knew exactly how to target it, since different antibiotics target different bacteria.  The new batch of antibiotics took care of it.

My (very unofficial!) guess is that the keflex took care of the e coli, which is the most common bacteria in UTI's.  But you probably have another bacteria in there too that requires something else.  Cipro might do it, but I'd rather know for sure so that in another two weeks the same thing doesn't happen again.

I guess if you didn't want to go to the urgent care clinic, I'd probably text the doctor, since I assume she gave it (her phone number) to you herself and was okay with that.

(Hope you feel better soon!)

Thanks!

I texted her.  The pain is pretty intense, and I don’t want to wait it out.

In the past, Cipro hasn’t worked for me, so checking in with her is probably smart.

Glad for the led change, hope you see results soon.

Adding this late, something similar once happened to me and it was indeed a UTI that travelled up to a kidney. For a year after that I drank only water and cranberry juice! No coffee, tea, soft drinks, nothing with caffeine or sweeteners. In hindsight I should have kept up with that regimen!

Aack,  glad you were ok!

Yep, that’s my fear!  Especially with the flank pain.  No fever, no nausea, so I’m fine at home, but still... yikes.

DD had pyelonephritis (spelling?) and ended up in hospital for a few nights two years ago.  I have some PTSD from that, for sure.

Hanging out with my heating pad again today, ready to take the new meds ASAP.
