ScoutTN Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) Good morning! It’s sunny and we are headed for highs in the mid 60’s today. I’ve taken my meds and made hot cereal for the kids. Tons of driving today, zig-zagging across town. Ds to school ✔️ Meeting at rehab hospital. ✔️ Lunch out - great day to sit outside! ✔️ Meeting at a park. ✔️ Pick up my laptop from home on the way across town. ✔️ Tutor two students ✔️ Quick supper ✔️ Take Dd to her BOR tonight! ✔️ Fall apart! BlsdMama Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Happy Thursday! 44 degrees today & potential for 60 by Monday! (giddy) 1. Talk self out of reordering seeds. (We ordered but there is an indeterminant delay.) 2. Talk self out of chickens. 3. Repeat hourly. 4. Cruise by feedstore and just LOOK at baby chickens. Scratch that. Too dangerous. 5. Do not look at chicken coops online. 6. Take DD17 to class. Take DD14 to class. 7. Lunch for girls 8. Drop them at Physics 9. Take littles home and do school for an hour. 10. Retrieve girls 11. Probably get gas (roll eyes) 12. Go home and do school for an hour. 13. Drop DD at mock trial practice I hate Thursdays, generally speaking, as I hate having a day swallowed up by driving too and from classes. I'm hanging tight to that we are almost to spring break and then classes end in MaY! However, the weather is lovely and I'm going to sing all day long. Feel sad for my children. 2 1 Quote
TheReader Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 LOL, Kelly, do.not.go.look.at.chickens. Or seeds. You sound like me and the quilt shop/fabric shop..... But do sing all day; the kids need that. 😉 My day: ....coffee ...stalk CVS website and schedule Covid vaccine now that TX is allowing teachers -- DONE!!!! Appt. set for Monday!!!!!!! ....prep for K for Monday ....SEW ...laundry ....school with DS .....help DH as needed to make pizza tonight in the new pizza oven, finally fully cured! Yay!!! (we have sparkling cider for the maiden voyage, even) ...rejoice that my mom also went online and scheduled her vaccine -- yay!!!! Bliss. (my grandma gets her 2nd dose Friday, my cousin was able to get it by volunteering at a vaccine site, my aunt's state opened up her age group, so she's going.....I need to find out what's going on with my dad and make sure he's getting his.....) ....try to watch the "Live" (last one) for my mystery quilt class ....anything else I remember I'm so excited about the vaccine!!! Like, giddy, tears of joy, can't believe it.....oh man. I also feel mildly guilty since no one else in my immediate family can get it yet, and since I'm only a part-time teacher, but as I do in fact meet the guidelines, DH said "do it!" and my friend who teaches at the same co-op said "do it!" and so, I am. I am in-person with 3 sets of kids, 2 days/week, plus the one I tutor (and the kids are all unmasked). anyway, happy Thursday! 2 Quote
mom31257 Posted March 4, 2021 Author Posted March 4, 2021 Kelly, I have never owned chickens, but you make me wonder what the appeal is. Reader, my dad is finally talking about getting a vaccine but not until the Johnson and Johnson one is available. Dh gets one Monday because he is a teacher. I didn't think about the possibility of me qualifying. I'll have to check into it. I went to my eye appointment only to find out I didn't have one. There was no doctor there today, and according to them, they wouldn't have even had the March schedules when I called to make my appointment. So weird! I made one for next Thursday. Picked up a few items I need for classes tomorrow. 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 @mom31257 Amy, I qualified as a teacher bc I tutor students in person. Your tutoring and co-op do count. No one asked for proof, but I gave the name of my tutoring center. You could use the co-op, I bet. @TheReaderhooray for the vax!! 2 Quote
BlsdMama Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Ladies, I had an hour and a half in town today instead of running home. Be proud. I did not see chickens... But I admit I thought, “I could have a house chicken. In Agricola, you’re allowed one house animal...” (I “gifted” our shed to my husband last year. Our garage had the ramp now and it’s cluttered/crowded with tools, workbench, etc. We got rid of our two goats and all of our hens and he got the shed. It made him ridiculously happy. I refuse to take it back, but I miss chickens!) There is nothing great about owning chickens. They must be fed in the cold. Their water freezes. They eat everything. They scratch out all your mulch areas to dust bathe. They are the most expensive eggs you’ll ever buy... And yet. The attraction is that you feel like a pioneer who forged the Mississippi when they start to lay. They’re pretty. I like watching chickens be chickens. It’s inexplicable. 3 Quote
TheReader Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 @mom31257 -- Amy, check your state, but for example, going through CVS, it asked me was I in one of the priority groups (yes), and which one (K-12 educator), and then asked what the name of my employer was. So, although we're independent contractors, I put the name of my co-op. They said on their website they don't ask for verification, just that the person certifies when they register that it's true (but that some states may require assorted forms of ID). I figure I will print off my teacher bio, my class listing, and the about page from the website, and take my "id badge" (which just has my name, school year, and classes, but no photo or anything) just in case, but....this should be good. The directive includes K-12, daycare, preschool, and even in-home licensed daycare providers so surely co-op stuff counts...... 2 Quote
TheReader Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Finished prepping all the K stuff Took oldest DS in, finally, for this chronic asthma-y cough he has going on -- he's working at camp this weekend, so we figured having some proof of "not Covid" was in order (bonus: they actually prescribed him an albuterol inhaler and an allergy med, so now I feel bad for waiting, but he's happy) Had lunch and a nap, heading to the store shortly with DH for more flour still have to do laundry and school with DS 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 I put the chx in the oven. I hope Dd remembers to take it out! 2 Quote
mom31257 Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 Thanks for the tips, Ladies! Dh and I went out to eat dinner since ds is off playing D&D. Everything for my first three classes tomorrow is packed up. I'm finishing up the lesson prep for chemistry (oxidation states, redox reactions, Galvanic cells, oh my!) 2 Quote
ScoutTN Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Dd passed her Board of Review, though I had to go home and retrieve paperwork she forgot. Got a second snack supper. Reading WORLD magazine and sipping sleepytime tea. Hoping for a much less busy day tomorrow. Busy at home, anyway, instead of driving all over town! 2 Quote
SKL Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 Hi guys. I didn't have a banner day today, but I got through it (obviously). I forgot that I had a conference call that I had to prepare for. When I was reminded of it, I had that panic response that I get sometimes. It made me worthless for most of the day. Sigh. The call went fine. But I'm another day behind on everything. 😕 On the positive side, the kids had a pretty good day and went to bed at a decent hour. Now I have to decide whether to try to work into the night or get some sleep. 2 Quote
TheReader Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 @ScoutTN, so glad your DD passed her Board of Review! Yay!! Congrats to her! Quote
