Amethyst Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 It’s been too many years since I homeschooled little ones. I’m trying to think of the name of a picture book author/illustrator. I think the characters were mostly Black. Maybe Hispanic. Patti Pellacio or something like that. Can someone help me out? Quote
Lawyer&Mom Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Patricia Polacco? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patricia_Polacco 4 Quote
Amethyst Posted March 2, 2021 Author Posted March 2, 2021 Yes! Thank you. That is the name of the author I was trying to think of. Turns out maybe she’s not Black or Hispanic, but there are at least some of her books that have Black characters. 2 Quote
Tanaqui Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 She is Jewish - which, of course, does not preclude being either Black or Hispanic, but you're correct, she's neither. However, some of her more semi-autobiographical picture books do feature Jewish holidays, if that's also something you're interested in putting on your shelves. 1 Quote
Lawyer&Mom Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Luba and the Wren is so amazingly good if anyone needs a morality fable set in czarist Russia... Quote
