katilac Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 My kids say not a Leapster, not a Turbo Twist. "You pressed the screen and the screen would shift left and right as a button. And the screen was like 90% of the front. No colour, just grey pixels." One of the games was something with scooters, probably running a scooter shop. It came with 3 songs you could play (and could probably get more); one of them was How Am I to Be by the Watson Twins. Roughly 2010. Any ideas?

katilac Posted February 27, 2021 Author Posted February 27, 2021 Bumping for the weekend crowd, because this is apparently going to be a topic of conversation until they figure it out.

But, alas, I found no chest full of gold. Soooooo, I need more details. What age were your kids when they played with it? Were the games on cartridges? No buttons AT ALL? I could not find anything with no buttons at all. They would have been tweens, maybe 9 to 12. I would say yes to cartridges. I do think there were buttons, I'm not sure they're remembering the touching the screen part correctly (a touch screen seems advanced for the time!). 46 minutes ago, Thatboyofmine said: Also, did it connect to the tv? Strictly hand-held? Something you could find at toys r us? Strictly handheld and the say it was blue on either side (like the part where you would hold it). Probably something you could find at toys r us, but definitely marketed as educational, we sold a few at the homeschool store we had at the time. They said it came with three songs but had a way you could get more (but they never did, and that's why they say they remember that one particular song coming with it).
katilac Posted February 27, 2021 Author Posted February 27, 2021 My first thought was a Turbo Twist, which they definitely had, but they insist that I am wrong and that it was a rectangular screen (and mostly screen).
Wheres Toto Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 (edited) VTech? ETA: There were a couple different ones, some handheld some console. ETA: Or the Reader Rabbit games? or See and Spell and the others from that line? Edited February 28, 2021 by Wheres Toto

ETA: Or the Reader Rabbit games? or See and Spell and the others from that line? I'm thinking no to Reader Rabbit, See & Spell, or anything with a super specific name like that. VTech is definitely possible. It was handheld only for sure, because we didn't sell anything as expensive as consoles in the store. I'm scrolling some VTech images, lol
