Good morning!

I woke up a while ago and just decided to get up since I have an early day anyway.  My mind turned on and that was the end of sleep. I don't mind being up early, as long as my house is warm.

I checked online and my Dd's online provider for math had their registration live even at this early hour, so she is all signed up for PreCal with her favorite teacher and a good schedule. Hooray! A good start to the day.

Today:

Drive an hour each way to get my first vaccination shot. This will take most of my morning. I'll get b'fast and coffee on the way.
Check in with Dd about school work.

Walk?
Check blood sugar ,since the vax can produce high levels.
AHG Board Zoom ✔️
Do something about dinner?!
Call mom.
Tutor two students and log sessions.
Pick up Rx? ✔️
Open House tonight at a school that might work for Ds for high school

Good morning!

So glad for the registration/good schedule, Scout! That's good news! Hopefully the school for your DS will be a good fit; this is because of the tuition increase at the other place?

And hooray for getting the vaccine!!!! praying you have no issues from it.

My day today:
....coffee
....breakfast
....prep for the 4 yr old
....school with DS
....make sure visiting kid also does school
....make sure middle DS also does his school stuff, so that they are all 3 able to take tomorrow off and have D&D
....lunch: clear out any remaining leftovers &/or heat up convenience stuff
....dinner: chicken fried steak strips, in the air fryer, with  mashed potatoes & fresh green beans (first time trying the air fryer for this....we are hoping it works well, as this is a favorite food, but we rarely make it, b/c so.much.oil.)
....laundry....? I have no idea where we're at with that
....SEW. I really really really really want to finish the ice storm week's clue TODAY so that tomorrow while the kids D&D I can do last week's clue, so that this weekend/next week I can do tomorrow's clue/finish the quilt top.  (finishing Ice Storm Clue today is doable)
....I am going to push off K/1st planning to the weekend, b/c I want to sew. If I have time after I finish the last step (it should not take long) I'll get started on that, though.

(well, no, I'll start on that now while the kids are all asleep, b/c I can't go sew until they all wake up)

I think that about covers everything.

Happy Thursday!

So far, the highlight of my day was when a cup of very dark coffee mysteriously fell and spilled all over my cream-colored rug ... and I didn't realize it right away.  And of course the cleaning up of that.

Second highlight was yet another discussion about my rotten kids and my lousy parenting.

I have many thoughts about culture and education right now.  I think anything I say will offend someone, even though I have lived with a certain person for 30+ years and I think I know a few things.  Just because you mean well does not mean you get to control others.  If you even could control someone bigger than you and equally hard-headed.  And my culture says that it's better not to control them at this age (regarding things that aren't life or death).  How to explain that letting a kid receive the grade she earned does not mean I don't care.  Sigh.  This is never-ending.

But other than that, it's been a great day!

Done:

  • Up in the wee hours helping kid with algebra homework.
  • Slept about 5 hours?  Woke up a lot - possibly because I slept on the other side of my bed ....
  • Drove kids to school on time, yay!
  • A little housework.
  • Emailed teacher.
  • Checked bank to see if my passport payment was cashed.  Not yet.
  • Ordered button batteries.
  • Caught up on emails, news, social media, calendar, and school stuff.
  • Discovered mysterious coffee mess on my carpet.  It was a lot of coffee!  Cleaned it up as best I could.
  • Started client work.

To do:

  • Lots of client work.  Prioritizing is an issue, because everyone wants everything right now.
  • Kids have after-school activities; pick them up at 4pm.
  • Some food in between activities.
  • Make the kids do homework & pick up after themselves.
  • TKD class at 7pm.
  • Whatever else gets done.

Got the stuff ready to print for K, and figured out what/how to consolidate for our ice storm make-up, at least to an extent.

Now I can sew guilt free 😉

going with DH to the nursery to get the "help your plants recover" stuff. Possibly more plants, but I am hoping to hold him off until the 2 weeks is up at least (they said not to give up for 2 weeks.....). The peach and apple trees are fine, and already showing little bits of new growth. The citrus, while well wrapped, currently look dead-ish. Waaah.

Remembered we also need to declutter the cups/glasses (again) as we got new ones (ohmyword, Fiestaware Bistro Tumbler Mugs.....perfect size. weird shape. Love them.) and need to make room, get rid of what they're replacing, get rid of other misc. random "why do we even have this?" stuff, etc. (or rehome, like the "popcorn cups" -- those should live upstairs with the popcorn....).

Eating food, then nursery, then school, then sewing.

Went to the nursery, got the "second choice" stuff b/c they are still out of the "first choice" stuff and it is backordered everywhere, but they promise the other stuff is just as good. :sigh: I hope so!

Came home, had lunch, fed all the kids, assigned "stuff to work on during nap time," and took my nap

Started sheets in the wash

Heading up now to do school stuff with mine and the extra, who are in a co-op class together, and then I will finally get to sew

Decided to skip TKD because of a few things that screwed up my work day.  The current plan is to practice forms as a break from work.

So now my work day is longer, but I feel kinda good about it.

Kid2 is really resisting my guidance about catching up on late work.  Man her head is hard.

Tutored one student.

Trying to juggle scheduling for tomorrow’s student while waiting for the next one to enter the Zoom.

Called some dinner prep instructions into Dh. Waste of time.

SKL, you are not a lousy parent for letting a child get the grade she earned. You are actually being the best kind of parent!

We didn't go to Atlanta and went to a nearby town instead. We visited a park there we've never been to because I read it had a great walking trail. Turns out it has a fabulous veterans museum as well.

Lunch was one of my favorites, Chicken Salad Chick! We went to Sam's Club to see if we might be interested in a membership and not really sure we would be. Went to Target, too.

We just finished dinner (Salmon, salad, and rolls), and did a clean out of the fridge since the garbage goes out tonight. \

Ds is playing D&D online, so we may watch a movie.

Dinner is done, I got *almost* all the sewing done that I wanted to (yay!), all the kids did all the school (yay!) so they can D&D tomorrow, and tonight they are ALL (even our oldest!!! Huge praise!) playing Catan together so DH and I can watch whatever we want tonight.

Thanks.   In the last 2 days I have called DSS on 2 different families.   I would have had to call again today but the Elem counselor called and said she would do it as they have the sibling over there.   I have filled out a subpoena on a custody issue, found out two of my parents were arrested together this afternoon for a DV case, and there is more, but you get the idea.

(((Dawn))) You have a tough job!

Delegated dinner to Dd.

I got dinner at CfA and went to an interesting meeting.

Going to tidy up a bit, then unwind with some tea and a book. Kids are watching Wandavision.

Was the meeting the open house? So you liked it?

We are loving Wandavision. Can't wait to watch today's episode.

Yes, an open house. I think it would be a good fit for our family. Ds is behind in math to the point of being in real danger of not bring able to graduate on time, but I think they could help us work out a solution.
