TravelingChris Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Good morning- though we are still quite dark looking like after dusk, with lots of fog. I have a morning counseling session And other than that, not sure what else yet. No one wants me doing hardly anything. 4 Quote
TravelingChris Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Oh I know one thing I have to do today- set up appts for psych, neuro and ortho pain. Reschedule Coumadin Clinic and Bp appointment due to ice storm coming. 3 Quote
ScoutTN Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 (edited) Good morning! Gloomy day here. Hoping we do not get ice or freezing rain. deep snow, which my kids desperately want, looks unlikely this weekend. This year of all years, they deserve a nice, fluffy, deep snow for sledding! My friends said all school would just go virtual, but I think everyone would skip and they know it. 😉 Tomorrow's AHG meeting hinges on the weather. I cannot wait for spring! Bring on the heat! I've done lesson prep and am drinking coffee. I have a virtual tutoring student at 8:00. He's a no-show today, so I'm moving on to something else. Breakfast! Scrambled eggs and veggies in a cheese wrap - my new favorite. Later:Take items to my mom. Stop at Walmart for jewelry glue? Possibly stop at HD to get more firewood? Drop off jewelry making kits for AHG girls to do this weekend for their Creative Crafts badge. This is second in importance, after things for my mom. Pick up Ds from school. Dinner is chx stir fry and egg rolls. Maybe s'mores, if we have a fire? Maybe watch a movie tonight? Edited February 12, 2021 by ScoutTN 4 Quote
TheReader Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Good morning! We're prepping for a winter storm, too, which is crazy. Freezing rain/icy roads predicted for Monday, with a hard "pipe busting freeze" in the day(s) after (b/c, TX, so our pipes aren't insulated). Today/this weekend, just rainy and gross and cold, but not freezing. So, today: ....coffee ....teach the 4 yr old ....finish the meal plan, grocery shop before the stores are insane ....the stand for the pizza oven is supposed to arrive ....school with DS ....help 20 yr old w/a paper -- by "help" I mean, look at the assignment, tell him he doesn't need my help, and make sure he does it ....get the next clue for the mystery quilt, maybe start working on it?? ....prep the stuff for 1st grade for Monday, just in case ....dinner.....???? ....after dinner -- Wanda Vision, and then probably video games/sewing ....LAUNDRY -- they are predicting maybe losing power next week, so we need everything to be clean, ha. 4 Quote
TheReader Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Y'all, the forecast an hour ago was updated to say we may have ice/snow cover on the ground basically ALL of next week. Holy.Freaking.Cow. How on earth do y'all do it???? 2 1 1 Quote
mom31257 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 Back from breakfast with my friend. I love her so much and will really miss her if we move! I'm sorry some of you are facing hard weather. We'll have rain the next few days, but we won't have harsh cold. 3 Quote

SKL Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Howdy! I think I'm glad it's Friday, but I have lots of work to send out before the 3-day weekend! I keep getting distracted thinking about how I'm going to use the next 3 days instead of getting today's work done. Done: Drove the kids to school on time, yay! Did some cleaning in the kitchen. Still leaving my kids' mess on the tables, because they freaking need to clean after themselves! But at least the sink is empty and the counters and stove are clean .... Did some cleaning in the bathroom. Got some work done, need to do a lot more. Caught up on calendar, news, emails, social media, and checked the kids' grades. Working on coffee 3 or 4 ...? To do: Lots of client work, especially time sensitive cash transfers and reporting. Pick up the kids from school & acquaint them with updated house rules. Kid2 to horse riding. Make the kids clean up their messes & finish any homework due tonight. Would love to do TKD, but it probably isn't happening today. Dinner out, followed by probable movie at home. Whatever else gets done. 3 Quote

We are the only family south of Atlanta. Everyone else is from north Atlanta to Ohio, and the kids have no plans to move back here. 3 Quote

TheReader Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Well, our directors officially cancelled co-op, so I am NOT offering Zoom options (I sent optional President's Day & Lunar/Chinese New Year packets & activities instead), as who knows who will have power or not, and it's Kindergarten/First Grade. Stay home! Snuggle! Read Books! Co-op will be waiting on the 22nd when the roads thaw out. Got DS (the 20 yr old) going on his stuff he wanted help with; will check on him soon Oldest reminded me he needed meds, right in the nick of time thank goodness! Egads. That would have been disastrous, him running out while we're under ice. DH & I went and got groceries, made a plan for meals, we're well stocked, realized if the power goes out at least it's freezing out so we won't lose the freezer contents, LOL! And we can keep warm inside in the winter LOTS easier than keeping cool in the summer, so that's a plus, too. We have plenty of sources of indoor light, plenty of sources of electricity-free fun/activities, gas to cook with, etc. I don't expect us to lose power, but it's good to think through just in case. (I know y'all are laughing at us, but we have hurricanes, not winter storm warnings!) Laundry is being cycled -- one load is folded, put away; waiting laundry was put away; next load is in the wash and the next one sorted and waiting. I should get through most of it today. Since I'm now home on Monday, pushed DS's school stuff till then (I took a LONG nap! eek) Going to look at my mystery quilt thing and see if I can figure it out; it looked crazy complicated when I downloaded this morning, but it was very short on illustrations, so I'm hoping they uploaded a revised copy....... 3 Quote

TravelingChris Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 I think I am getting through the scheduling- rescheduled Coumadin to this afternoon, and got appointments for ortho pain. Neuro I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday since I think no one is in the office today (probably did big 4 day weekend). Psych I will try again later, With regards to my bp appointment, I will be calling that office later to report bp for today and then change that. Also, am working on printing documents to send to title handling company hopefully today so we can get our check soon for our car. 3 Quote
ScoutTN Posted February 13, 2021 Posted February 13, 2021 Urgent Prayer Request! My mom, Susannah, is 84 with a terminal lung disease. She is not a Christian. She fell this afternoon and broke her femur very badly. Surgery tomorrow afternoon. I hope to get to see her tomorrow morning. She was supposed to be in a room by now, but the phone just rings and rings, so either she's asleep on pain meds or not there yet. She doesn't have a cell phone. Please pray for her salvation! She has had so many surgeries (hip, both knees, shoulder, intestinal blockage) and so much pain in the last few years. She lost her sister, her best friend, a couple years ago and that was a heavy blow. Covid has been terrible bc she has no tech skills and cannot stay in touch easily. I am worried that this will be too much for her, physically and emotionally. 4 Quote
