Calizzy Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 I have frozen hamburger patties I want to cook for dinner tonight. It's snowing out so I don't want to use the grill. My usual indoor method is the frying pan, but I need to cook 6 so that's like 3 batches. Can I just put them on a cookie sheet it the oven. Would the texture be mushy since they weren't fried? Quote
sweet2ndchance Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 I've done it in the oven then browned them under the broiler. The texture isn't mushy really but it isn't the same as grilled or pan fried. It is my least favorite method of cooking hamburgers. Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 We do it on the regular...convection setting on the oven, 450F, 45 min total, flip the patties 20 min in. This method allows a kid to make dinner...no grilling involved. They aren’t fantastic, but they certainly aren’t awful. Quote
Junie Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 I've made them in the oven using a glass baking dish. It does a better job of catching the grease than a baking sheet would. 2 Quote

Bootsie Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 I have used a broiler pan to do frozen patties under the broiler on low. Quote
PeterPan Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) I bake them in my countertop convection toaster oven. I've done them in the big oven too. I'm usually doing turkey burgers, and it's true they look kind of sad. Beef burgers will have more fat and brown up better. I usually cover over for the sins by slathering them with a mixture of ketchup/brown sugar/worchestershire/chili powder (like you put on stuffed peppers!) or ketchup/cheese/onions. Just something so they look pretty. And the sugar flavors condense so the ketchup mixture on top is nice, at least I think, at least for turkey burgers done that way. And yes, definitely turn on convection, whatever you've got. Edited February 7, 2021 by PeterPan Quote

You can do it on glass, but then you can't broil. I've done them on glass, on a metal jelly roll pan. It's all just food to me, lol. Well that and turkey burgers don't look better no matter what you do, lol. But your burgers will make juice, so not a flat cookie sheet, something with sides. Quote
Farrar Posted February 7, 2021 Posted February 7, 2021 (edited) They're okay on the broiler, but I much prefer them on the stove on my grill pan. If 6 burgers is 3 batches for you, then you either make enormous burgers or need to get a much bigger pan. I usually do 4 at once. If I had to do 6, I'd either do two batches of three or I'd compromise and stick two in a pan on a second burner. Edited February 7, 2021 by Farrar 1 Quote
