making a craft for my dad's birthday

Remember the conversation about creating something out of my mom's jewelry?   She has more than a truckload of plastic type costume jewelry.   There is plenty to make a few different projects.   

Anyway, I wanted to make something like this for my dad:

My question is, would you make it in my mom's first letter of her name or their last name letter or my dad's first letter of his name?

Ultimately, it doesn't matter, but I was just curious.   

I like the idea of this because you can buy the letter in wood form at Michael's and just decorate it, I don't want to design something myself, I just want something to decorate on top of, if that makes sense.

Thoughts?   I will go to the store sometime today.

I wonder if you can get a decorative cut out, like a fleur de lis.  If not, I would use your mom's first initial.

I’d use your mom’s first initial, or perhaps a heart shape.

I also like the idea of a heart or other shape. Otherwise, I'd go with the first letter of his last name.
