TravelingChris Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Good morning! SUnny and quite cold today! But not like it will be on Monday- we are excepted to get an Arctic blast and have low of 5. That means in the next few days, I will need to do shopping and preparing for that very cold weather ____ our houses aren't built for that kind of weather and while we run water to preserve pipes, with that cold, it can probably still freeze- plus plant protection and a few weeks ago, a part of our furnace failed and we were without central heating for 2 days- it has been fixed but getting ready is the smart thing to do. Done= breakfast and meds taken measured my current desk and the area I want the new desk to cover- I want a side table/desk to be attached or part of the desk and I want a lower pullout for my keyboard (I currently have a drawer but it is difficult to use that as a keyboard area. refilled medicine box for the week checked weather in Nashville (warmer than here, about a 120 or so miles to the south) and also opening hours of Amish Excellence, the store we have been getting a lot of wood furniture in the last few years (and so have two of my children so far) To do get dressed and also bring clothes and compression gear needed for walking in Cheekwood garden get all my gear ready for going drive to Nashville go to Amish Excellence go to my rheumatology appt eat lunch go to Cheekwood gardens (hopefully) drive home and get dinner on the way home Relax and maybe watch American men's soccer team game against Trinidad-Tobago we have recorded. 4 Quote
TravelingChris Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 I am not sure how much other than the rheumatology appointment I will be able to do tonight. DH is in a super, super, super crappy mood- probably too little sleep and his sleep apnea is getting worse without a new mouth appliance- though if he thinks I should control my self and he needs to control his mouth and general attitutde- he is not curing me or hurting me in a physical way or anything like that. But he just doesn't want to help me at all, seems really angry that I am disabled and have so many chronic illnesses and is very critical (about things that are true like my paper mess on my desk but I know what my desk will be much better when I actually have my office the way I need to have it). Need to keep getting ready but unfortunately part of my flares is mild depression and makes me weepy and that really, really aggravates dfh because I am not even weepy about big stuff. I hate my diseases. 1 3 Quote

TheReader Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Morning, all! My list today: ....DH finally followed up for me on the life insurance thing, so now we wait for one more reply and hopefully that's sorted out ....look up/research places that might be able to help us with the dog; I really really really hope we can go that route ....also look up/call places where we might be able to rent a small forklift for moving the pizza oven when it arrives ....help DH put the sealant/top coat on the patio ....talk to my dad/grandma about this weekend -- dad is coming down to do some work for grandma, and they want us to come over, which is fine. but they want us for Sunday lunch, which makes it risky that we'll be back for the SuperBowl in time (and it being DH's favorite team/player, and we have plans for making lots of food, we really can't) so I need to see if Saturday dinner will be okay instead, or if they want to come here, or if I end up going there solo, or what .....go to the store -- need to do that earlier vs later .....prep & print for 2nd grade tomorrow -- after the store, b/c I need to buy paper ....school with DS -- study for biology test, finish history homework ....laundry ....dinner is lasagna ....maybe sew some if I have time? ....probably Cobra Kai after dinner if everyone has time 4 Quote
readinmom Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Good morning! Christina, praying for you... The good news this morning: my fasting blood sugar was down to 127. So much better! Done: master bath shower/dressed breakfast, lunch. made work After that, I'll update...not sure what area to tackle. 3 Quote
TravelingChris Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Om the road to Nashville and right now we are making it to the appointment 3 minutes late but I hope dh will be able to catch up. We were behind a bad internet company van who wasn't even going the speed limit on on a long stretch of road w either no passing or cara coming the other way. And I do mean a bad internet company- my dd1 refused to buy a home they otherwise liked that was in the county because of its very lousy reputation. A few county areas have okay or good but most have lousy Then we had to stop fir gas and I had to go inside to go to restroom( mire joys of AI life- constant bathroom issues) and we were 8n the county abutting ours in TN where the only people were wearing masks was one other customers (probably from. Huntsville). Plus there was smoking inside too-another thing Al doesn't have except in very limited areas- like cigar club, for example. Now I do understand why the health officials were saying that they think our high spikes of Covid may well have much to do w our interactions w the nearby TN counties. So many people who work in the Huntsville area live in TN ot have family that does. 1 Quote
TheReader Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Okay, emailed Grandma, and Saturday dinner is all set. Whew. Researched and emailed a few dog behavior places/people. We're in a "just far enough outside the main metro area" spot that it's proving difficult; the most promising guy doesn't serve our area, and I don't know how much confidence I have in his video sessions/zoom/etc. for this. I will send him a message anyway, maybe he can recommend someone locally that I haven't been able to find. Mostly I want to explain the whole thing to these guys and see what they say about yes, work with her, or no, don't, and then we'll go from there. DH just had to go run do some work stuff (out of the house) so grocery stuff will wait till later. Eating some more breakfast and then at least going to prep all the 2nd grade stuff to print once I get paper. 4 Quote
mom31257 Posted February 2, 2021 Author Posted February 2, 2021 Christina, sorry things are so rough and praying for you and that your appointment goes well! Zoom session, one student, breakfast and lunch are done 3 Quote
TheReader Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 The first dog place called back, and they were very encouraging. A different business model (one medium fee for one session, then no cost unlimited follow up as needed, for either one year, or life of the dog, depending on which medium-ish fee you pay), vs. a small fee per session, but then you end up doing 4-8 sessions and spending the same/more anyway, so.....will see what the others say, show it all to DH and go from there. Heading up to do school with DS. 2 Quote
readinmom Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 TheReader: We are currently working with a behaviorist with our dog. It's the best thing we have done. We've been teetering on surrendering to a rescue, but we are trying to be very optimistic at this point. It's work...and lots of it. She has really come a long way since then. Just trying to throw some encouragement your way... We went for the longer package with the follow-ups. Dinner is in crockpot/chicken in green enchilada sauce teaching is done for the day Eating lunch, watching Kami videos on YouTube, trying to add "one more thing" to distance learning 3 Quote
TheReader Posted February 2, 2021 Posted February 2, 2021 Thank you, readinmom, that does help! The second guy called back, who has you pay per session. He's honestly my first choice, though he will be pricier in the long run, but we shall see. The other guy is also highly qualified. And I did talk with my son who talked with the kid (teen) who got "bit" -- the kid says that really she wasn't trying to bite him, she was barking at him and his hand got in the way (so, her mouth closed on his hand, in his jacket pocket, but mid-bark, not bark bark, bite, bark bark, according to the kid). I have one more contact I'm waiting on. As for the list: ...did school ...prepped some of 2nd grade ...DH is home, so going to store ...talked to 2 of the 3 dog people 3 Quote

ANd do check your home insurance or rental insurance policies because many refuse to cover pitbulls or pit mixes, particularly ones that have a history already. I know mine has a list of dogs that they will not allow on home or universal insurance. Edited February 3, 2021 by TravelingChris 4 Quote
TravelingChris Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Sorry Scout about your mom= will pray for her As to my day= visit with rheumatologist went well, got Prolia shot but forgot to talk about COVID shot Dh was in a lot better mood with a tasty lunch, going to Trader Joe's (we are getting one here soon but not yet), and then I got an iced mocha at Panera for the trip home. We did go to Amish Excellence and got the info we need to make decisions about my desk- choose wood and stain, but I will be getting a custom desk so we will actually order later after dh draws what I need and will fit in here. And to our surprise, they had a model of a lovely Rocking chair we both liked and that would be perfect on our front porch. Turns out that this was one of the two last ones that were going to be made. We bought both and brought home one. Once I got home, I did a zoom meeting with the lupus group- the speaker wasn't very helpful to me-- too focused on TN and Nashville- but I was able to help two people on chat and then the after conversation with just the lupus and maybe lupus people was very nice. Then I had my dinner- just a sandwich and a banana since I had Salmon, veggies and salad for lunch. Now watching US-v -Trinidad Tobago soccer friendly and also need to finish final chapter of a so-so book =bio of a black woman physician who relates some interesting things but seems to have a giant chip on her shooulder=-all about micro=aggressions (and I bet if she, an ER doctor, tried to give me a medicine I cannot take ((and I have had this happen before)) she would consider it a micro-aggression that I wasn\'t kowtowing to her even though I question whites, Indian subcontinent,. males, females, it doesn't matter who if they are misdiagnosing me or mistreating my illnesses or getting the math wrong on prescriptions, or whatever mistake they make), and also thinks she is so disadvantaged while she was living in a place probably about 6X more expensive than what we were living in during the same period of our professional lives or that she grew up probably about 4x or more wealthier than I did in the same metro area and parent;s owned a nice house in very wealthy area and she went to an exclusive very wealthy school,. Can you all guess that I am not going to be all - oh yeah- all whites are privileged and all blacks are not -tomorrow? 4 Quote
ScoutTN Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) Sad. Cast list for the musical (Sound of Music) came out tonight and Dd only got an ensemble part. She was hoping for Louisa and is disappointed. She has worked so hard on both singing and dancing and her audition was good. The competition was tough - lots of seniors. It will be fine. She will work hard, learn lots, and have fun. Just part of life. Just harder this year, like everything else. The disappointments and losses just seem to keep coming and I find myself less resilient than I used to be. Edited February 3, 2021 by ScoutTN 1 3 Quote
readinmom Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Scout, sorry for your dd. Been there, trust me. This year has been so tough, but hopefully like you said, have fun and know that she did the best that she could. There is no rhyme or reason to auditions. 3 Quote
TheReader Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Thanks, Chris; yes, our insurance co. is aware of the dog and all of that. Thanks for the reminder though! Margaret, I am so glad you caught the K teacher before she fed the kid stuff he can't eat! Yikes. Quote
