Act crazy during full moons?

I always thought it was a myth but our kitties act totally nuts. Yesterday the kitten jumped (a very long way) onto a *wall shelf*— thankfully she’s tiny and didn’t tear it out of the plaster wall. Then I watched her size up the light fixture over the dining room table in an attempt to leap up to it—she didn’t because it’s not really possible, but her intentions were clear. Both cats are acting inconsolable and kept us up half the night with their racing around the house and generally pestering us.

I’ll be making copious use of bird videos for cats today. Mama needs a break!

(yes, they are healthy and happy—they just act like toddlers most full moons)

No cats here, but something wandering through our suburban backyard stopped to howl at the full moon at 3 this morning! I thought the howl at the moon thing was a myth too.

Wow! Any idea what it might have been?

I thought that was just a cat thing.   And I'm grateful ours hasn't tried it yet.  (he has three cat trees - incl. one next to a storage shelf he can walk along and explore to his heart's content.

Though he has been sitting and staring at the door.  He really wants to go out.

Wolves do not live in my state, so I'm guessing large sounding pet dog or coyote? It was pretty cold, so hopefully not someone's pet.

I haven't noticed that with our animals. We generally have a lot of cat commotion in our house, since there are six of them.

The coyotes howl like crazy all night long here, no matter what the moon is doing!

I don't know about animals, but people really do get affected by the moon.  At least some people do.

It makes sense.  I mean, think about tides.  If the moon can do that to water, why would it not also affect people's brains?

Are you being tongue in cheek or are you meaning the gravitational forces?

I'm serious and yes I mean gravitational forces.

It's a scientific fact that more psych cases are presented when the moon is full (or so I have read).

This is funny/interesting because my husband just texted me a photo (from across the house)of one of our 5 year old cats who had jumped up and perched on top of a door.  Both our cats are completely off their fuzzy little rockers today.  😹   One of our cats unexpectedly scratched my son last night too! 😕

I was going to laugh at your post, but your poor son! Cat scratches are so painful. 😞

Lol he’s alright!  😀   Just really unusual around here since we are so far beyond kitten phase.   They really have been weirdos the past day!
