Ditto Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Everyone here is so creative that I thought I would love to see how you would write this song describing your 12 months of Covid. For reference here is a link to the cartoon from today. I have tried all morning to write it tailored to our family, but have hit a wall. I am just not as creative as you guys. https://www.gocomics.com/pearlsbeforeswine/2021/01/24 2 4 Quote
Lori D. Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 lol. Back in the summer, DH was thinking of a covid-related alphabet book done in the style of Edward Gorey's The Gashlycrumb Tinies -- it was the "N is for Neville who died of ennui" that felt like the pandemic-shut-down and inspired him. He got this far before succumbing to ennui (lol): A is for Agnes who ate her way through the fridge, B is for Blake, barricaded in place with a drawbridge. ... E is for Eglantine who grabbed the last carton of eggs. F is for Fergus, trapped under his stash of beer kegs. ... L is for Liston, insistent about not staying distant, who caught a cough that was decongestant-resistant, dismissed it, and is now non-existent. ...V is for Victoria who lost track of the days. W is for Walter who withered away. 8 Quote
SKL Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 It really didn't impact us here until March. I have been thinking I'd like to write a song about this mess, but right now I have way too many deadlines to really do it right. Maybe I will try to do one for "release" on the anniversary of our shutdown, which was in early March. Might include things about not seeing faces and not going places. Nixed graduation, nixed confirmation. Being out of sorts because we couldn't do sports. Chromebooks and zooms instead of classrooms. Long walks and short talks. If it weren't for music I think we would lose it. 4 Quote
