Ottakee Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 For my blog, I want to link an online resource that is simple and easy to understand for those that might be seeking/interested in becoming a Christian but might have little to no Biblical knowledge and/or no Christians friends to ask locally. Any ideas for me? Quote
MercyA Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 (edited) I have found www.gotquestions.org to be theologically sound and faithful to Scripture. (My one area of disagreement is their view on creationism; I am an old earth creationist, and their answers definitely have a bias towards young earth creationism.) Ottakee Posted January 24, 2021 Author Posted January 24, 2021 Thanks I will check these out. 1 Quote
Carol in Cal. Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Rediscover Jesus by Matthew Kelly is pretty good. He is RC, and I’m not, and I would disagree with some of his other books, but that particular one is great. 2 Quote

I am glad to hear it sounds more....basic? We have had some great faith discussions and I think his goal is to see me return to the RC church. So if I do read this one, would I not come away with the impression he’s trying to change my mind about my Protestant ways? <sorry to detour, Ottakee> Detours are welcome here.😀 1 Quote

Like, there are RC hints like ‘offer it up’ and such, but no very overt differences. Lots of focus on doing and not just believing. But overall a pretty decent intro to Christianity to hand someone, as opposed to an intro of Christianity to ‘train the trainer’ like most of the Lutheran resources that I have. Actually, now that I think about it, the old 4 Spiritual Laws booklet is decent as well, although it is so decision oriented that I don’t entirely concur with it. And I think it can be found online as a pdf now. Yup: https://crustore.org/media/wysiwyg/pdf/Four_Spiritual_Laws_English_.pdf Quote

Samaritan's Purse, maybe? HSLDA? A Beka? I don't think Christian Light Education would sell their list. I used to be on a lot of pro-life mailing lists, but I think now I just receive mail from my local Right to Life. Any other ideas? Quote
klmama Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 One of those might be it. I don't think I finished the book. Maybe that will be my bedtime reading, if I can find it.... 1 Quote

J-rap Posted January 25, 2021 Posted January 25, 2021 I have a feeling this isn't what you're looking for, but I'll throw it out there just in case. I'd say this is for someone who already knows the basics, but has more questions about deeper and sometimes complicated issues. https://reknew.org You can click on "Search The Site," and then look at the right-hand column. You can either enter in the subject you're searching in the search box, or you scroll down to "Filter by Topic" and do it that way. So you know, on morality-type issues, this particular church theology holds that God absolutely has ideals, but that Jesus's self-sacrificial love has to be our compass. It does have what some traditional churches might think of as rather revolutionary ideas (on certain topics), but based on what I believe is very Biblical. (Just to put it out there!) 1 Quote
