Good afternoon!

I don't usually tackle anything on Sundays, but today is all weird because church was live-streamed, but we had no wifi until 10 minutes ago, so we all slept late. Feels like a Saturday. I will watch the recording of worship tonight, but I've been doing some much needed prep cooking.

Done:

wiped out the fridge and threw some too-old leftovers out.

taco meat cooked

gochujang gr turkey with veggies and rice -new recipe and very good!

butternut squash cooked and scooped to be pumpkin for pies or custard.

black beans in the crock pot

dishwasher unloaded and reloaded

Next up:

get dressed and go for a walk at the park

Later:

read

play a new board game with Dd

make a list for this week

Hi guys!  We are trying to make the most of Christmas vacation.  I loved that Christmas fell on a Friday this year, so the next 2 days are relatively stress free for those of us who work full time.

Our Christmas was good.  Laziest Christmas of my life, for real.  It was the first time I did not spend any of Christmas either at my folks' house or traveling.  In fact, I didn't step out of the house at all.  We got nearly a foot of snow.  I watched it come down while sitting in front of the TV eating candy!  I also didn't buy gifts for extended family this year (another first).  Just Amazon gift cards.

Day after Christmas, I walked a few miles, took our bird to the vet & my kid to the horse barn, then went to visit my folks.  I thought we were going to be the only visitors there, but when I arrived, I found out that most of my siblings were present.  Too late to turn around, and too cold to stay outdoors, so we just stayed distant from everyone.  It was stressful, but it was also good to talk to people after a long time.  I found out some exciting things and some very bad things about their family members.  Things that weren't right to share "virtually."  My kids and I got home around 3:30am.

Today, my kids have a few friends over for some needed social time.  One of their best friends, whom they have only seen 1x since school started, and the 2 girls who visited last weekend.  The maids came this morning, but I slept through that.  Now, as the kids scream and blast K-pop on the TV, I am trying to catch up on some year-end items - researching 529 plans, updating the books of the charity I co-founded, and making a list of things that need to be done before year-end.  For example:

  • Client things that are very time sensitive, like:
    • Year-end invoicing and payments.
    • Year-end compliance reporting for dozens of companies (hopefully no corrections needed).
    • Complete analysis for a time-sensitive audit.
    • Get a good start on big reporting requirement due in late January.
    • Summarize tax issues and draft IRS letters for one client who made a series of mistakes in the past.
    • Compile, check off, and file periodic reports from others; send out requests for missing reports.
  • Complete biennial CLE credits, after figuring out a discrepancy in my transcript.
  • Finalize year-end donations.  Update personal tax records.
  • Do extra walking to bring my monthly average up to 4 miles per day.
  • MIght send some Christmas cards, might make the kids do some thank you cards.
  • Order gifts for kid's early January birthday.
  • Catch up on online church, online messaging from the kids' school.
  • Plan and start supplemental algebra practice / review for the kids.  Also review geography with them.
  • Make sure kids work on the project(s) the school assigned for them to do over break.  I know they have at least 1 essay due, possibly more.
  • Would love to do some other learning projects, read-alouds, etc to clear some books etc. off my dresser.  We'll see.
  • Whatever cleaning, organizing, purging can get done over the kids' break.

So my to-dos for today are to plan some of the above and get some of it done.  The more I finish today, the less I will be freaking out come Friday.

Today DH and I went fishing, which was fun. He fished, I sat and visited with him, watched the sunrise (), took bird photos, chatted with the fisherman on the next spot over, chatted later with a fisher-wife also accompanying her fisherman husband (they were from out of state, and we ended up chatting for 2+ hours!), and just soaked up sun and waves. DH caught a nice sized sea trout.

So, came home, took a nap, now goofing off on the computer.

To Do:
....grocery shop for a few things
....get DH to hang some paintings
....get DH to hang my quilt design board on the wall
.....cook/eat dinner (fresh trout, rice, roasted beets)
....TV/movie/board game/something?? with the family??? Or quilting/video gaming...??

Tomorrow my mom is coming over for an outdoor visit; she needs help with a quilt, but there is zero way to socially distance in my sewing room, so we're moving tables and machine outside and going to be out there. She's mildly annoyed, but it's that or wait until we are all vaccinated (because we can't trust her to be cautious at all), so she agreed. Cases are HIGH and rising here, and even higher in her county than ours.

Ah, DH being in the middle of a video game said let's wait until morning to grocery shop (this is better anyway b/c less crowded), so we'll put the food in the oven then hang the stuff.
