I broke a tooth.  A molar - I will need to have a crown.

I've previously had to have crowns at christmas . . . . why does it have to be now?

I'm dealing with the side effects of the antiviral I'm on - one of the things being I'm pretty tired.  I've let sons know I need help putting ribbon on presents - or they're not having ribbon. I don't have the energy.

UPDATE: - dentist is closed, and wont' be open until Tuesday. no back-up.  the phone says to "leave a message - but gives you about one second before saying "goodbye" and hanging up.   I'm not in pain - I can use wax as a "filler".  It doesn't hurt, and I'll just have to be very careful about eating.

How frustrating!  I hope you feel better after getting some rest tonight.  Will they be able to get you in for a repair on Christmas Eve or over the weekend?  Or will you have to wait until next week?

We'll find out . . . .  .

I'll call this morning.  I hope, at worst - there's an emergency dentist open who can do a temporary.  It's not currently hurting, but I haven't tried to eat anything (or drink anything other than water) since it broke.

We could not find an emergency dentist one time — it turned out urgent care knew of one!

We drive one town over.

Good luck!!!!!!!

I hope the wax works well and you don’t have to go in, but I hope you can find somewhere if you do need to — maybe an urgent care will have a name.

Ugh, I'm sorry.  I have had 2 Christmas holidays ruined by teeth issues in the past 5 years.  I needed an emergency root canal last year the week before Christmas.  I read an article that said emergency dental work was way up because people aren't doing regular visits and stress causes people to clench more.  Which is probably true over the typical holiday season - more busy, more stress, more odd dietary choices.

It really stinks you have to wait so long to get in!  I left a dentist over that kind of nonsense.  The first holiday issue I had to wait a week for an initial appointment and then it took 6 weeks to get the root canal/crown!?  Ugh.  I didn't think to start calling around to endodontists.  My last root canal was a consult appointment and they could do the root canal on the spot.  Not to mention it went MUCH  smoother than that first root canal.
