Both dh and I are surprised that we are getting some items delivered super fast.  Dh ordered boots for dd1 at DSW and got them the next day!   Stuff Amazon was telling us they wouldn't get here prior to Christmas have arrived yesterday and today.

Things that have come Fed Ex have been super fast.  UPS has been fast.    The only slow/delayed deliveries have been postal service.

I'm glad your items have come fast.  That is always nice and quite a treat during the nightmare that is 2020.

We've had excellent service this season from Amazon, UPS and FedEx.  I was still able to order from Amazon last night and have it delivered tomorrow.

My  ds works at Amazon in the warehouse.  They must be on target because he received notice last night that his section will be on vacation beginning at 1 on Christmas Eve. (he just got trained for a new job though so isn't sure it applies to him). After working 60 hour weeks since tgiving, he is looking forward to a more normal schedule.

I have for everything except the bed I bought for our cats and some socks.

Fortunately, Obama and Scout won't care.  Their main present, catnip fish, arrived on time.

We got a new bed for our kitties too! It’s big enough for both—DH would love nothing more than if they snuggle together in it. 😻

I'm intrigued by the catnip fish! Ours are getting dried herring in their stockings. Lol

We've had a mix. Amazon continues to get things here almost the second we order (or so it seems). For ex, DH ordered the filter for his car for his oil change. Arrived the next day, but was an empty envelope, no oil filter. Called them up, and the next day, new one arrived. Even stuff from Amazon marketplace sellers -- we ordered the Lego minifigures that we do in the boys' stockings every year; we've looked locally and no one has them this year. But he found someone selling a complete set of them (or at least the correct number), and they also arrived within about 2 days.

On the other hand, we ordered several things from Kohl's, which have trickled in over all manner of shipment methods and time frames. One shirt, ordered with several other shirts right at Black Friday, still has not arrived (they went through a 3rd party shipping company on just that one shirt). I'm supposed to call and get our refund, but their phone system keeps ending the call. (we already bought a replacement, so I'll keep calling, just not feeling urgent about it).

But everything else in that order, and others placed after, arrived. They've been a mix of USPS and UPS; I don't think any FedEx in the bunch.

And I shipped some stuff out of state, via USPS Priority Mail, which arrived only a day or two after what I was originally told. As my main priority on those was "don't lose them" that was fine with me.

Still waiting for something from Amazon. Fortunately that present is for the son who won’t be in until after New Years (if at all 😔).

But some fabric I order for myself for quilting has taken weeks. Still not expecting it til after Christmas. Not a big deal but I have these two weeks off, so it would be a great time to get started on my quilt.

Our packages either arrived early or very late.  One package seems to have fallen into a black hole.  It left the sender's post office weeks ago never to have been scanned again.   First class mail is also hit or miss.  I sent two cards to the same address several days apart.  The second card arrived before the first.

These are the catnip fish my kitties are getting.  And our cat bed arrived today!  https://www.amazon.com/Duckyworld-Pollock-Fish-Pack-2/dp/B00MY9WIYG/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=yeowww+catnip+fish&qid=1608837526&sr=8-3

Yes, almost all of our items have arrived on time or early, regardless of the carrier. The plant we sent my mom arrived before it was even showing as shipped on the company website and before I got an email saying it had shipped. I had something arrive today from Turkey that was mailed four days ago. I think we will be only missing one item that someone else mailed us when we open gifts tomorrow. However, I did follow the PSA of ordering everything by December 11.

One of the reasons I’ve heard for FedEx and UPS packages arriving early is that the companies are just trying to keep everything moving and aren’t concerned as they normally are about things arriving earlier than what was paid for (because then people wouldn’t be incentivized to pay more for expedited shipping). Someone I know whose job involves lots of shipping and receiving has noticed this year that they regularly get items earlier than the guaranteed time and that rarely happened previously for them.

Not Xmas gifts, but shipped just before Xmas within the USA (and then one to Colombia).

(1) DD sponsored, on KickStarter,Com  I think on June 4th, 3 Jig Saw Puzzles. Each has 1000 pieces. The original idea was they would ship to her during October 2020, but they were overwhellmed with Sponsors. Her 3 puzzles were shipped to our Receiver/Forwarder in Miami, FL, USA early in December by FedEx Smart Post. As I recall, FedEx did not "Tender" the package to USPS. FedEx took it all the way to our Receiver/Forwarder in Miami and delivered it to them. DD also sponsored an Art Book (I'm not sure if that was also last June) and is  waiting for that. (The FedEx SmartPost tracking showed 3 pounds of weight and then when our Receiver/Forwarder charged us for 9 pounds, I thought the Adapters/Cables weighed 6 pounds, which seemed to be impossible, but it turns out the 3 puzzles weigh a total of 9 pounds...)  The MagicPuzzle web pages on KickStarter.com now show those puzzles are for sale on Amazon and in Target.

(2) DD came home from Chapel Hill and is planning to take courses that will be all Online and stay here and save money, during the  Spring 2021 semester.  The first 3 books I ordered for her, 2 of them, ordered on consecutive days on eBay, from SecondSale in the Chicagoland area, were sent via OSM Worldwide (like DHL GlobalMail and others) which is also based in Chicagoland.  Items picked up on consecutive days, but were together from Chicago to the Atlanta area and then into the USPS facility in Opa Locka (surrounded by Miami).  One item made it to the USPS Miami Destination center yesterday in the afternoon, after being "Tendered" to USPS in Opa Locka and I assume the other one is still in USPS in Opa Locka waiting to be processed.

(3) The 3rd book for that course I ordered from a small eBay Seller in NJ. They took it to their local post office in NJ on the 18th. The USPS Tracking still shows it is  sitting there and was "Accepted".  I am going to wait until New Years Day and if it isn't moving by then, ask them to refund my $ to my PayPal account. It is not the fault of the Seller. I believe it is much more common when an individual takes 1 or 2 things to the USPS to be shipped for there to be issues.

(4) This turned into a disaster... Our old Dell Laptops have "DisplayPorts" on them and no HDMI.  Our Laptops were built for "Enterprise" clients. I wish they also had HDMI.  DW had an Adapter, DisplayPort to HDMI, which was damaged.. About 2 weeks ago, DD told me that DW said to buy another Adapter. What I bought for DW was 2 of the DisplayPort to HDMI Adapters, each with a 6 foot HDMI cable. When the Carton was delivered to our house yesterday, by our Receiver/Forwarder and DD opened it, in about 10 seconds my DW told me that was not what she needs...  I am not sure what Adapter she needs, but it has something to do with the TV... Those 2 items (saved $ by buying 2 from them, which I normally would not do, but for that item, on eBay, the  Seller had 617 Positive Feedbacks and 4 Neutral  Feedbacks, which is awesome,  so I bought both Adapters from them. That Seller is about one hour from Miami, so I knew the Shipping might be problematic. It started out perfectly, until it got to  USPS in Opa Loca and then was there for several days and then when it got to the local Post Office that serves our Receiver/Forwarder in Miami, they were backed up and it was 2 or 3 days before they delivered it.

All of the carriers are overwhelmed. The 9 pound carton from Miami was released by Colombian Customs in Bogota, on Monday morning, which I had never seen before, usually it looks like they release the items in the late afternoon, and arrived overnight in Cali, after a detour on the route from Bogota, because of a landslide or Avalanche. It sat in their local terminal until Christmas Eve and thankfully was delivered on Christmas Eve just before 12 Noon. Strangely, we were looking for it and there were 7 people in the house but nobody heard them and they told DIL who thank God did respond to the barking dogs, that they were about to leave.

Hopefully all of the carrieres can have their employees off today, but I suspect that many of their employees are working today, Christmas Day.
