MEmama Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 C’mon, every time I turn around an essential ingredient has gone missing consumed. And snacks...I swear I don’t know what happens to them. I’ll open a bag of chips, eat 7, reach for said bag the next day and there will be only a handful of crumbs remaining. Trail mix I have to hide. Cereal disappears by the box. Same with crackers, a box ought to last a week and I’m lucky to have a box last til the next day. At least they devour leftovers with the same gusto. I guess I should count my blessings. But I really wanted that cotija on top of the frittata tonight. 😡 3 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I have a hidden cotija stash in the garage fridge. It keeps forever when you buy it in the round/square ungrated. 1 1 1 Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Fwiw, I also have a “my precious” shelf in a different kitchen cabinet than the pantry. Super sick of buying a treat for me to have a share in and having my teens or dh eat it all. 3 1 1 Quote

I don’t have a garage fridge, but I do have a freezer no one but me dares go in to. Sounds like a perfect hiding place next time. 😈 3 2 Quote
RootAnn Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I grew up with food being labeled & the trend continues. Do not touch! Mine! Touch it & die! [Name's] Do not eat! So, my Java ice cream says, "For Mom" Only my DH dares touch it. If you don't label it, it will be gone the next morning, usually by 6 am, sometimes by 5 am. 4 Quote
Ali in OR Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 The round I bought a few months ago lies untouched. As you say, who goes snacking on cotija cheese? 2 Quote

Carol in Cal. Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Also, for me it was key to identify an ice cream flavor that no one else liked. Pistachio nailed it, thankfully. 1 2 Quote

I had half a wedge of Parmesan Reggiano on Monday and came into the kitchen on Tuesday to find a 1/4 inch of cheese and rind left. Kids! Edited December 17, 2020 by Sneezyone 1 Quote

prairiewindmomma Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Fwiw—“colonoscopy prep” boxes seem to be safe here. I have been working out a backup plan. 1 6 Quote
