alisoncooks Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I just received two pairs of Land's End Starfish pants, same style, different sizes. Wouldn't ya know it -- I'm solidly between sizes. The smaller size is snug through butt/thighs/tum, though not uncomfortable...but I'd definitely need a long shirt. And there's noooo room for shrinkage. The larger size fits quite baggy through the waist/low belly but only slightly loose through thighs. Very comfy. Perfect -- if they were a smidge smaller. I know these pants are popular here. From your experience, do they shrink any? I'm tempted to keep one for casual use/car rides (I hate anything that's binding on my midriff), and treat the other like a legging (to wear with tunics). prairiewindmomma Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 The ones I purchased in September have not shrunk. Quote
JennyD Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I have three pairs of the straight-leg Starfish pants. I call them my pandemic pants and wear them 6 days a week. I wash them but hang dry and so far I have not noticed any shrinkage. I don't know what would happen if I put then in the dryer, though. Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Mine are in the dryer, washed weekly—so about 14 wash cycles in. 🙂 Quote
Spryte Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) I haven’t noticed any shrinkage. ETA: I’m between sizes also! I have two sizes in rotation. Edited December 17, 2020 by Spryte Quote
alisoncooks Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 I'll keep both. They were relatively cheap. One pair will be my "I'm feeling thin!" pants, and the other will be my...other...pants. 😉 3 4 Quote
catz Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I live in these pants and no they don’t shrink. Quote
KatieJ Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I wish I could say yes, but alas, the issue is not with the pants. 8 Quote

Hilltopmom Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I wish they had a drawstring to adjust since I’m often between sizes too. Mine haven’t shrunk ever Quote

Sorry for all the questions. These are what I have. Total mom jeans. No leggings or jeggings for me--my legs are claustrophobic. 😉 1 Quote

I have to have longer shirts of course. Which is another issue. 2 Quote
Hilltopmom Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I always liked the straight leg but now that I’ve lost 50 lbs even in smaller sizes they look huge on my legs. The slim fit ones are looser than leggings with a trimmer fit than the straight leg. 1 2 Quote
Terabith Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Mine have not shrunk, although I had the non starfish knit pants, the ones with pockets. That said, I like mine a little baggy, so I'm not sure small amounts of shrinkage would be noticeable to me. 1 Quote
alisoncooks Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) UPDATE and NEW QUESTION: Wore the bigger size today and they felt okay for a while but then totally became baggy. Like, hitching-up-the-waist-while-walking-around-Walmart saggy. Yikes. Def needed a drawstring. And pockets. (Mine are the slim leg, non pocket pants -- yoga pant material.) So the question is: do your Starfish pants stretch (the way jeans do when wearing)? Or did I get a knockoff? Regardless, I'm now leaning toward the smaller size as the best size for future purchases. Terabith Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 I haven't gotten the starfish pants, which I think are advertised as leggings? The ones I get are called "sport knit high rise elastic waist pull on pants." Quote
Hilltopmom Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 OP- Yes they do stretch out. Terabith- starfish pants come in different types- leggings, slim leg, jeans, or straight leg. The sport knit ones are different- I like how they look but don’t fit me right. The starfish pants can look dressier imo. I wear them for teaching with a dress top. 2 Quote

I have the mid waist slim leg and the straight leg version with the tiny zipper at the waist. I don’t think they stretch out when wearing. I wear the straight leg for dressier outings and the slim leg for most of at home life. This fall I bought a pair of the stretch jeans. The waistband in those is much larger and I am contemplating taking them apart and taking some elastic out. 1 Quote
