Hilltopmom Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Making a list of favorite easy readers/ phonics readers sets: BOB books I See Sam All About Reading readers Oak Meadow readers also- Little Bear, Frog & Toad, Owl books (although I’m specifically thinking of phonics ones that are divided by skill covered, as opposed to Little Bear style books) Am I missing any other good ones? I know Scholastic always has a bunch but I’ve never been impressed with them. Quote
BakersDozen Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Pathways readers are my favorite next to the classic McGuffey's set. 1 Quote
Dmmetler Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Progressive phonics is free and pretty good. Also, especially for older kids, Dancing Bears Fast track is limited phonics, but still feels a little more mature. It has a very dry British humor that probably would fly over the head of a 4 yr old, but leave a 10 yr old rolling on the floor. 1 Quote

The 7 year old thinks it’s hysterical. i wish they made other readers to go with their main books Edited December 18, 2020 by Hilltopmom 1 Quote
AnneGG Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I liked Dash into Reading and TGTB readers, but DS wasn’t all that impressed. Usborne phonics readers. Printable readers from TPT. The Crafty Classroom word family readers are excellent. Quote
goldenecho Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 ProgressivePhonics.com - they are color coded so that you read some and your child reads some, which I love. And they are progressive...one builds on the next. And, they are FREE. I also like the Usborn phonics books (can't remember the name but they feature a cat, and a little duck that is hidden on every page), because of the cute illustrations. 1 Quote
lulalu Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Usborne has some good ones. I really liked the first grade set from Pathway (Amish company) they are not religious and do a good job of repeating words in each story but making them interesting. 1 Quote
Terabith Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 I love the American Language Readers, actually. I really, really wish I could find a secular set as good as they are, but I haven't found anything that builds as gently and as thoroughly. Quote
sweet2ndchance Posted December 26, 2020 Posted December 26, 2020 ABeCeDarian readers are pretty good too. You can buy them for Kindle on Amazon for 99 cents each. Quote
