mom31257 Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 I'm looking for a mystery for the book club I lead (3rd-5th grade students). I like to discuss literary elements and then do hands-on activities. 'I love Basil of Baker Street, but I would appreciate suggestions for other good mysteries, too. Last time I did this with a book club, I planned a mystery for the kids to solve. They did fingerprint and ink analysis as well as some deductive reasoning activities. 1 Quote

wendyroo Posted December 15, 2020 Posted December 15, 2020 The House With a Clock in Its Walls? by John Bellairs I have loved this book since I read it as a kid. It is a bit spooky, but I read it to my kids when they were those ages and they survived even though they are SUPER sensitive kids. Plus the recent film adaptation was half-way decent. Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett My oldest read this a couple years ago. He enjoyed it, and he is by far my most reluctant novel reader. Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein You can't go wrong with Chris Grabenstein. 1 Quote
