Do you have any print source for whatever this is? I don’t like to use YouTube videos as a news source for lots of reasons (not the least of which it takes so much longer to have to watch videos vs reading). So many of them are totally unreliable. I also don’t like to click through and support someone’s YouTube channel financially if it turns out they are using it to spread dangerous misinformation.

Don’t bother.  This doctor is a conspiracy theorist.  And also a politician.

there may be a print source, but I don’t have it

I think a lot of us may disagree with it — I myself tend to follow Dr Been and Dr Marik who are pro-mask and embraced mask use well before it was mandated in my state.

The YT is from Dr Shiva who has PhD from MIT etc      He likes to look at systems .

I think even though I tend to be “pro mask” personally that this may be very important much like I thought the Vitamin D slide show by Dr von Helmund that I shared much earlier in pandemic . (And got a good bit of flack back for doing so!)

what seemed crazy then to a lot of people about vitamin D has come to seem less crazy now to more people

That may be true about mask as well.

In addition, I found some useful information therein that I think I can use personally with regard to how to use a mask with greater safety than how I have been using them.

I have no interest in debate - just putting it on a TWULR basis.

So he's an engineer not a medical doctor, he spreads QAnon conspiracies and anti-vaxx nonsense, he claims Fauci is a Deep State operative who needs to be fired, claims to have invented email when he was 14, and was previously arrested for beating his girlfriend. Not someone I'm going to take medical advice (or any advice!) from.

Not to mention that spreading his "message" is not neutral or benign.

No ads came on my view, but that may differ if trying not to take any chance on supporting someone with different ideas

You spelled "not wanting to support or amplify the views of conspiracy nuts" wrong.

Trying to spin the claims of a QAnon-suppporting anti-vaxxer as just "different ideas" that some people are too closed minded to consider, instead of the dangerous lies and misinformation that they are, is at best disingenuous.

When he said "We supposedly have a Quote/Unquote Pandemic" at just before the 9 minute mark, I stopped the video. I refuse to listen to anyone who refuses to acknowledge a pandemic. 1,617,442 people dead worldwide is not a quote/unquote pandemic [edit: current Worldometer number as of 12/13 3 pm CST].

So whether he has any good ideas/insights, I personally will not listen to him.

Stuff like this is a gateway. Someone takes something that seems harmless on its face and tries to get people to hear them out, consider the other side, be willing to be challenged, etc. Once you've got people questioning about a small thing - what if this one thing is unsafe for some people because x, y, or z and has it been fully investigated, etc. etc. Then the conspiracy theorists move them to something bigger. What if the government was covering that up. And bigger. What if it goes beyond that. Until they're "hearing him out" about how the lizard people run the deep state.

Since we are cycling back around to questioning if masks are safe, I will again point out that surgeons and surgical staff spend a large portion of their work day in masks and suffer no ill health effects. Same for people work in lab clean rooms. We literally have decades of experience and knowledge of this.

Add in a big dose of "Other people may not be smart enough or educated enough to understand this, but you are not one of the brainwashed sheep who can't think for themselves, you are capable of seeing the truth that others don't..."

So do many artists. And construction workers (sheetrockers, painters, electricians, etc, etc, etc). And people who work in the great outdoors, but have allergies.

This "argument" about masks just makes my brain hurt.

You'd think a place called "The Well Trained Mind" would be immune from woo woo malarkey, but here we are.
