Slache Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 If you've had Covid can you get it again immediately? Context: The in laws have the plague, FIL is the worst and getting the plasma treatment. MIL won't let him go to rehab because she's afraid he will get Covid. Is this a valid concern? Quote

There was one case in Melbourne where a person seemed to have been reinfected four weeks later but I don’t know if it was confirmed. Is your FIL immune suppressed? 1 Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/08/covid-19-reinfection-tracker/ the closest reinfection on the BNO tracker is 10 days apart. You’d have to be very unlucky though. Quote

Shoeless Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 A friend of mine and her family contracted covid on October 11. The family now has covid again, 2 months later. 1 5 Quote

I think there’s slightly more concern around reinfection with immune suppressed because they’re less reliable at forming antibodies. I still think it would be pretty unlikely though. 3 Quote
Katy Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 I’ve known 2 families who got reinfected at 55-60 days. 2 Quote
Not_a_Number Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 For the shorter term reinfections, are they confirmed with a genome test? The one I read about seemed to simply involve the virus lying dormant. 1 Quote

ScoutTN Posted December 12, 2020 Posted December 12, 2020 On the other hand, I have friends here who had it in March and are in a study at the teaching hospital. Most of them, including a friend who is in her late 70's, still have a strong showing of antibodies. 2 Quote

I know they did another covid test. So far, symptoms have been mild and limited. 1 Quote
