Trekking the National Parks?

my kids say it's very similar to Ticket to Ride. We have it; it's fine, but it's not really my kind of game, so it's not ever what I pick.

We all like it some, but none of us ultra love it. That's me and the husband, and four kids ages 9-15. Of the other games we play, it's most similar to Ticket to Ride, but obviously with a Parks vibe.

Definitely similar to Ticket to Ride; we like it. That is the style of game that best draws in all 5 of us (me, DH, and the boys, ages 23, 19, and 15), all with different gaming personalities.

We have a version of this game called Trekking the World and it a very interesting game for the whole family, with DD4 forming a team with the adults.

We are more video game than a board game family, but this has given us hours of fun. 

I did not buy this because we do not know much about national parks, but I think using this and the Disney series on National Parks would be a good family exercise to increase our knowledge.

I've been looking at this game and Trekking the World. They have good reviews, but I was wondering if it was too similar to Ticket to Ride and several posters seem to think it is.

I had no idea this was a game, but I have now opened this thread twice while saying to myself, "Whoa, isn't @BlsdMama ambitious! I'd like to visit all the parks but trekking is too much."   😂  Clearly I haven't had enough sleep for a few days to have fallen for this not just once, but twice.

We love it! We have visited many of the parks, but it also gets us learning about new parks and talking about future plans to go. I haven’t played Ticket to Ride, so can’t compare.

Did you get the game? 

We just got it as a late Christmas gift. We loved it!!   

I think the strategy is very different than Ticket to Ride. Sure it feels like it since you have 5 cards out to choose from, collect cards by color to achieve tasks, and you move across the US to various locations, However, you have multiple ways to get points, and the game can end quicker than you think it is going to as well.

LOL @Katy - don't think this hasn't occurred to me.  Now that I have a powerchair, I'm feeling ambitious.  I've been thinking about taking up jogging for the first time in my life too, lol.  :P 

My body type has always fooled everyone - I look athletic and trim but truthfully? I lack skill, grace, balance, and any motivation to run without being chased.  The boardgame version really might be best.
