Simple Subject

What is the simple subject?

Many of the books are small.

"Many" is the simple subject => "Many are small."

I agree with "many."

Workbook identifies "books" as the subject which did not make sense.  I wanted to check with other homeschoolers.

"Many" is the simple subject.

"Of the books" is a prepositional phrase.  "Books" is the object of the preposition.

 

I might be concerned about the workbook you are using. 😞
