I think I've spent nearly a year learning how to clean this house. You guys really helped me out with cleaning products (Mr. Clean Summer Citrus) and I am hoping you can help me with this. The duster I bought in February is already broken - it doesn't hold position when I extend it or when I angle it. I am in need of something that works well and won't break in less than a year!

I need it to extend so I can reach the crown molding

I would prefer to be able to angle it to 90% so I can dust high ledges

I want to be able to wash the duster head (the part that actually picks up the dust)

I would rather have something reusable (not a Swiffer)

Please let me know - What are your favorites?

Norwex has just what you are looking for! Envirowand. It has two different length handles.

expensive, but great quality.

Back years ago I got into Flylady and got one of her fabulous purple feather duster sets for Christmas. I still have them somewhere, haha. Swiffers are SO much better. I guess read the reviews, but I can't fathom a washable product doing as well. But one I don't want to spend a lot of time and two I have asthma and really want the dust GONE. And Swiffer does that really well.

So I guess read the reviews, hope you find something. But those 360 head swiffers work exceptionally well. I have scads of them because they're cheap enough to keep at point of use. (in your car, under sink in your bathroom, etc.) What is it with all that dust in bathrooms? LOL

Yes, I hate to say it, but nothing works as well as a Swiffer. And I have one with an extendable handle that angles at 90 degrees. (Unless you want to wipe with a wet rag and then go over it again with a dry one. That's how my mom did her dusting and she cleaned houses and churches for a living. It works, but I am much too lazy to dust everything twice. I've never found a reusable duster that compares to either Swiffers or wet + dry dusting.)

I wanted to circle back to this in case anyone wants the information in the future. I looked at the Swiffer duster and while your enthusiasm was intriguing,  I couldn't see that  that the convenience and quality justified the waste in the landfill. I may have decided otherwise if I had not found the Oxo Long Reach Dusting System. I ordered it last week and have used it once to dust woodwork in several rooms and it is fabulous. It picked up quite a bit of dust and a lot of cat fur. It has three attachments and they all hook together for storage and they are really sturdy. Best of all, it extends to 8 feet, which gives me plenty of room to dust the crown molding! I am exciting about dusting. I think that means I am old. Oh, well. It's the little things.

The worst vacuum I ever owned came with this great duster.  The vacuum had a plastic tube that both sucked the dust off the duster and built up a static charge to attract dust.  I don't know why all vacuums don't have this.  I still have and use the duster and I tossed the vacuum ages ago.  It's just less convenient to vacuum off the bristles,  They're some sort of fine nylon material.
