SquirrellyMama
I have been trying to get our cable/internet company to come out to finish a job, but I cannot make them understand. I can post pictures if it helps. In August they buried our cable/internet line. Previously, it was coming from the power pole across the yard and into the house. Technically, it is still coming from the line from the power pole because they never actually hooked the buried line to the line that comes into the house. How can I word that differently than above because they aren't getting it? Kelly
DrC
Dear cable Company name here On “date” we commissioned our overhead internet service cable to be buried. This work was completed on “date”. Regrettably our internet drop cable still remains connected to the overhead line. Our new underground internet service cable has not yet been commissioned. Respectfully I ask the new buried line be commissioned at this time by complete into the following tasks; 1) Connect the underground service cable to the service providers PED at “location of the power pole here” 2) Connect the underground service cable to the internet drop of our home at “location of where the existing internet cable enters your home eg North West Corner etc. That should do the trick in their parlance. Cheers Craig
Arctic Bunny
Do they also need to remove the overhead line?
DrC
Great Point Arctic Bunny Removal of the overhead line would be relevant if they were the providers of that line. If the overhead line was from another supplier then it would be up to the owner or the previous supply company to remove the existing line. Unless of course you negotiated the removal of the exisyting line in your new cable contract. Cheers Craig
SquirrellyMama
The overhead line was knocked down during a storm this past summer. When they came back to hook us up they just connected a cable that ran through the yard since they were coming back to bury it. Well, I thought they would bury that one, but they ended up burying a new one. Unfortunately, they didn't hook the buried one to the house. So, they could take the line draped on the yard also or it could be thrown in a bushy corner of the back yard. Kelly
Farrar
I think Dr C's wording is good. But also, I would not write anything. I would call and be a thorn in their side until they get it.

Cheers Craig I like this, but I wouldn't use the word "completed". I'd say the work was started on "date" but not completed.
PeterPan
Stop trying to tell them what the problem is and just act dumb. Your cable (or internet or whatever) isn't working and something isn't right. Repeat, repeat, repeat. They'll bump you through the levels, schedule the service call. Or are you saying they've been out to service and didn't follow through? All you need is a service call because it's still not working.
