Good morning! Amy, thanks for starting these for us 🙂

Today I have:

...coffee
...think about borders for my quilt (trying to decide on a color)
...maybe go into the sewing room and start unpacking my fabric back into the drawers as a way to help figure this out
...remember to get DS15 up early enough to eat breakfast, practice his report, and be on time for class at 10:30 (usually this is DH's job)
...remember to make something for lunch at least for DS15 so he has time to eat between his 2 classes (both on Zoom)
...sort the dirty laundry and see if anything needs to be washed today or not
...scan in DS15's homework and email to his 2 teachers
...Zoom Show & Tell with 2nd grade

....if I figure out the borders, sew them on
....not sure what else.........?  It's rainy again, but warming up, so a stay inside day for sure (poor DH is out in it...hopefully the roads don't get bad)

Howdie!  It is a weird Wednesday so far.

I really didn't think the garbage trucks were going to come on time today.  The city snow plow didn't come and clear our road until late last night, and only 1 person (snowblower guy) managed to get a garbage can out to the end of his driveway.  The private snow plow guys had given up.  So I didn't bother to go out and drag my bins down the snow-covered driveway to leave them ... where?  On a snow drift?

But lo and behold, I heard the truck earlier than usual.  Naturally, since almost nobody had their bins out, the truck just rolled up and down our street, making only 2 stops.  I hopefully ran downstairs, put on my daughter's boots, and tried to quickly bag our turkey carcass from the fridge.  But there wasn't enough time.  Since we can't leave the food in the fridge for another week, it's in the bin, and I just hope it freezes and the critters don't try to get in there and eat it.

The city has piled up the street snow right in front of our driveway, leaving a narrow path to either get out or get stuck, which is already snowed over again.  (We live at the end of a cul-de-sac.)  There are also 2 cars in the middle of the street, just sitting there.  And now a big earth mover is out there doing something.  Still haven't heard from our private driveway plow guy.

If our private plow guy doesn't show up, I'll be shoveling again, after clearing about 2 feet of snow off my car.  I will have to go get my bird today, and the other people's vehicles are not good for driving in snow/ice.

The kids have another snow day today.  Yay for that.  But they have trashed the house, so I will have to chase them to clean it.

Hopefully with all this going on, I will be able to focus and get some client work done.  Not sure if I will walk outside or inside this evening.

I think I will try to watch the advent livestream service this evening.  We'll see.

Good morning!

Really good bloodsugar number again today. I seem to be losing weight w/o trying and while it's nice, it concerns me a bit too. This thyroid stuff on top of diabetes is complicated!

Today:

Drop off poinsetta for my mom.

Order bagels online so pick-up is faster?

Get milk and then bagels.

Lesson prep.

Walk!

Tutor three students -2 live and one virtual.

Remind kids to call my mom.

Dinner is fish, broccoli, rice and a salad.

Read!

Got DS onto his first class, he gave his presentation (it went well), and so that is done

Got the other boys up

Did find a perfect border fabric and got the border on -- pic below. Story: my husband took  my boys shopping for my bday, and had them each (him included) pick one yard of quilt fabric. They picked the city print (building skyline), the plain turquoise, the red/black Christmas plaid, and the river stones print. And challenged me to combine those 4 fabrics into ONE quilt. Ha.

So I found the pattern online (Skyline Sensations, by Hoffman, who made the skyline print), and dove in, and lo & behold, it turned out.....really nice!! Added the gray cornerstones and the dark turquoise sashing (background? border?) fabric, and the outer border fabric, and......wow. Reminds me of looking out our apartment window in Brazil ❤️

Making lunch and putting away laundry now.....

Reader, that is absolutely amazing! What a great idea they had! BTW, you're welcome for starting them. I'll do it as many days as I can. I figure at this point it's whoever gets on first.

We just finished lunch. The Zoom classes are done. One student in person is done.

Thanks, y'all! It was a challenge of a quilt, but so fun, and I'm honestly pleasantly blown away by the end result; I attribute the success of this one to the pattern, 100%.

Got laundry all caught up, had my 2nd grade zoom show & tell (those girls are a hoot), got invited to a joint bday party next week (yay!), DH has dinner under control, and now I'm going to probably pick some next sewing project to work on......

Decided on a next sewing project, and working through the specifics of it.....this will be a fun one, but also important to me; my grandma once upon a time gave me t-shirts from my late uncle and said do whatever I want with them.....deciding how exactly to use them has taken a long time (she meant for me to turn them into a quilt, but for me, not to give back to her). I'm still debating if/how exactly to do it, but have a plan, and still also debating whether to make them into small items to divide between the siblings, etc. but I think I have the beginnings of a plan. Need to do some more thinking.

Pausing to cook mashed potatoes to go with dinner (DH is making smoked salmon), then run DS to youth group, then back to the sewing room.

Dinner was meh. Fish came out tough, though I followed the recipe exactly and it came out well before.

Dishwasher is running and so is the washer.

I reset the table with clean linens    and asked kids to do trash and recycling.

Realized that I do not have to go anywhere tomorrow. Zero on my calendar. I LOVE that! A day to catch up on things at home!

Found out today that Ds' school will go back in person Monday, after this week of being virtual. Mixed feelings about that, but it is best for learning without a doubt.
