teachermom2834 Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 My 22 yo ds and his housemates are holed up with Covid 😞 They are doing okay but they are having symptoms and not feeling great. Mama is feeling helpless 150 miles away. I want to have something delivered to them. They seem to have a sense of smell and taste still. I'm resisting the urge to drive 150 miles and drop something homemade on their doorstep but I'd love to do something. Anyone know of any special bakeries or restaurants that would make a delivery that might brighten their day? I know about Uber Eats and all the regular stuff I just wondered if there was something special I could do that someone familiar with the area might know that I don't. They are in the NE area of Atlanta. Brookhaven. 3 Quote
Acadie Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 This may not fit your definition of special but I'd see if there's a Whole Foods that would deliver several containers of their in-house chicken soup...maybe it's called Grandma's chicken soup? It's very good and you can freeze them for later. 1 Quote

popmom Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) I wish I had a suggestion. I'll ask my 23 yr old dd. She lives just inside the perimeter--not far from Brookhaven. Sandy Springs/Cumberland area. Maybe she'll have a suggestion. I'm sorry they are sick. I'm also about 150 miles away lol. My dd was exposed to COVID a few weeks ago, but she didn't get sick. She lives alone, so I do worry about her getting sick. Edited November 20, 2020 by popmom 1 Quote
ScoutTN Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) Fresh fruit might be nice, and healthy! WF's chx soup is good and so is their cheesecake! Edited November 20, 2020 by ScoutTN 1 Quote
plansrme Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Oooh ooh ooh, I know this! I am in an Atlanta suburb and see ads on Instagram for this bakery all the stinkin' time, and it looks amazing: https://www.instagram.com/stgermainbakery/?hl=en They deliver and are not terribly far from Brookhaven. 1 1 Quote
AngieC Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 The Flying Biscuit is amazing and a local Atlanta chain. The biscuits are heavenly, but everything I’ve had from there has been tasty. 1 Quote
teachermom2834 Posted November 20, 2020 Author Posted November 20, 2020 Lots of good ideas!  Im not freaking out. I think he’s going to be okay. But it is very unsettling to know he has the virus and is sick (mild as it is, thankfully) and not be able to do anything.  I might be sending Thanksgiving dinner from Omaha Steaks. 🙂 primarily to make myself feel better. Quote

My brother lives in Brookhaven, and we met at the Flying Biscuit last month on our way through Atlanta. I had blueberry pancakes. Yum. 1 Quote
Stacia Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Souper Jenny is a local place that has great soups and other healthy foods. It looks like they stopped delivery at the beginning of this month but it does look like they still have a care package you can send if within the delivery zone. Depending on where they are in Brookhaven, they are likely in the zone. You could call and ask. https://www.souperjennyatl.com/shop/care-package-no-flu-for-you-buckhead-pick-up-xabsc If they like coffee to brew at home, you could send them coffee from Land of a Thousand Hills. https://landofathousandhills.com/collections/all For pastries, we love Douceur de France. Not sure if they have delivery or not. I would call them and ask. Literally everything they have is fabulous, pastries, cakes, soups, quiches, breads, etc. http://www.douceurdefrance.com/ If they like pizza, Avellino's is good. https://avellinospizzeria.com/avellinosbrookhaven/ As already mentioned, The Flying Biscuit is wildly popular. For ramen, see if Ton Ton will deliver to them. https://www.tontonramen.com/ And you could go full southern and see if Waffle House delivers! 😉 Hope they all improve quickly. Not sure if all of these will fall in the delivery area, but it's worth asking. Also, if any of these places don't, ask them for recommendations of local places that would. 1 Quote
GoodGrief3 Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Kelly is the owner and a mother of young adults. She would be very caring, I am sure. https://treatyourselfbakedgoods.com/ 1 Quote
mathnerd Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Amazon Fresh does free delivery for Amazon Prime customers. So, if your son has a Prime account or shares one with you, it is easy to order fresh food for him. 1 Quote
