My niece just had surgery to correct Chiari malformation and her head is shaved in a vertical strip from the top of her head down to the base of her neck.  Any suggestions for pretty things I could send as she grows her hair back out?  The live in a subtropical area so heavy stuff probably would be a bad idea.  And otherwise, I am not sure how much the incision/wound has to breathe.  ETA: she is 14

Before you buy- is she one who would like any head covering?

One of DH’s friends wife had this surgery.  She couldn’t wear anything in her head for while as it caused migraines.

Good point!! The reason she had the surgery is because of headaches, so I certainly wouldn't want to make it worse!!  I will ask. I know before she used to wear hats now and then but that was before the Chiari was causing daily headaches.
