SquirrellyMama Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 My son had Covid earlier this month. His isolation ended on Nov 9th. The rest of us got out on Nov 13. That night I was so exhausted I went to bed at 6pm. Friday into Saturday I started getting a sore throat and my headache was worse. By last evening I had a fever, sore throat, and a massive headache. I finally got more Advil this morning. Fever is down but not normal, sore throat feels better, but this headache is going to do me in. My son's case was mild and I don't feel on the brink of death. I am hoping for a sinus infection. Would I get Covid that far from his original symptoms? Kelly Quote
Not_a_Number Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 It's possible, I think. When did he start having symptoms? Quote
Karen A Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Were you truly isolated from him during his entire isolation? You were in Q, so unlikely to get it from another source. I think you need to call your primary and get tested. It certainly could be a sinus infection, and if his isolation was excellent, it most likely is. But why guess? Quote

My husband wants me to use Doctor on Demand today. They can't give me a Covid test, but could prescribe antibiotics if they think it is a sinus infection. Was it a perfect isolation? Probably not. He stayed in a room in the basement with an attached bath. We would take food down and put it on a chair in front of the door. There were times that the door was open. The latch isn't perfect. I am hoping sinus, but I'm not particularly congested. Kelly Quote

Not_a_Number Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Just now, SquirrellyMama said: He started having symptoms on Oct 30th. Then it seems plausible enough. If you had gotten it a few days after that, now would be a possible time. Quote
Farrar Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Yes, it sounds like it's Covid and that it's absolutely possible that you got it from him. Of course it's possible that it's a sinus infection, but I would go on the assumption that it's Covid. It really sounds like it is. I'd isolate from everyone as best you can, start on vitamin D, get a pulse ox if you don't have one, get tested (I wouldn't bother with the Doctor on Demand - get the first test you can tomorrow presumably), and stick a humidifier in your room if you have one. 4 Quote
Katy Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 I think it’s probably Covid. Is there a testing site near you open today? 1 Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 To answer the question of whether your symptoms could be very different from his in kind and severity: the answer is yes. Quote
lewelma Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Transfer has happened in the quarantine facilities here in NZ a number of times. Three nurses wearing full PPE have gotten it. And at least 2 residents that I can remember- one from the trash can lid and one from the elevator button. All are directly genomically linked to people in the facility. These are tightly regulated facilities with strict cleaning routines that have undergone multiple audits to improve the protocol. I'm guessing you have it. 2 Quote

Our governor shut down a few sites and now the state run sites are back logged. We went from having 200 positives a day, to 800, and now between 4-5,000 a day and she has testing sites shut down. With that many it won't be long before everyone in this state has had it. Kelly 2 Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 Yes unfortunately I think you need to get tested. Hopefully it’s not. Quote

I’m guessing in case they came down with it right on the last day of that. So, unfortunately, it sounds possible. That's interesting. We were told to do our 2 weeks from when he had symptoms. I was running numbers and I can see how it could spread that close to the end of our quarantine. I was out for a day when I got sick. This doesn't seem like a sinus infection anymore. I will call the doctor tomorrow. It could be the flu. But, that wouldn't come on that quickly after getting out of quarantine. Kelly Quote
