Just for fun—what is your ‘can’t have too much of...”?

As I just purchased 9 books online after just having raided our local thrift store and coming home with an armload of books, and after encouraging my sister to put extra cheese in her bread, my obvious answer would be there is no such thing as too much cheese or too many books.

My dear mother would probably say toilet paper, my brother-in-law would probably say shoes. What about you? What do you say you can never have too much of? Cozy blankets? Pencils? Math manipulatives? And if you want to share your favorites or favorite place to get your favorites, that would be fun too!

I love the question.

Houseplants

Happy blue pens (black ink is depressing); they don't need to be fancy

Vintage linens (doilies, etc.)

"Just right" sewing/knitting/craft supplies = small, practical stuff that doesn't take up much room that gives you flexibility on projects, such as double pointed knitting needles in a variety of sizes or extra DMC colors so you have a whole palette when you want to whip up something small and fast, etc.

Chocolate
Children (hence need for item above)
Children's books (I have hardly any books for me but sagging shelves for kid books)
Science manipulatives (especially for high school Physics)
Money/funds (for item above)
Cute plush hand puppets (we could open our own store...dc love these)
Real whipped cream (my plate at Thanksgiving: 10% pie, 90% whipped cream NOT from a plastic container)
Stretchy pants (see item above)

Espresso with heavy cream.

Wine.

Good cheese and olives (Sartori Merlot and Kalamata).

Books.

Allergy safe treats for kids, and sometimes me.  Hello, Katz Bakery.

Friends.

DH.

Shea Moisture Hand and Body Scrub, and body oil. And Moroccan Light oil for hair.

Supernatural.  Be still my heart.  Alas, it’s ending soon.

Oh!  You made me want to add Birks to my list, too!

Project FeederWatch started today, if you need an excuse for the birdseed.  😁

I’m right there with you on the cheese.

After several years of purging, I don’t know that I have anything but cheese on my list, lol. Books DO take the most space in my house, but I can’t add, only replace. I like an extensive array of office supplies, but I’m at my limit. I love a good coffee mug, but we definitely have too many.

So just keep giving me the cheese!

Okay, wait. Gun to my head, I can’t ever have too many fuzzy slipper socks.

I'm really a "less is more" person, but maybe some non-material things like:

  • Time for sleep / rest / arts appreciation / nature appreciation.
  • October weather and foliage (in 4 season northern hemisphere).
  • Travel.
  • Understanding of other cultures, languages.
  • Practical and artistic skills.
  • Good health / immunity.
  • Respect and love.

cats

I was going to say foster cats but when the number got up in the high teens, I realized there is a top number.

So, good homes for foster cats! You can never have too many of those.

Chocolate,

sleep,

hugs from friends, DH, & kids

kisses from DH,

well-fitting bras

Dollhouses

Children's books

I only have 2 dollhouses so far, and not much room but this is definitely something I'd want more of.

Books of all types, but I love children's books, too.

Sleep as a pp said.

Chocolate is definitely at the top.

Time with my girls at home ( They are 22 and 19 so not much longer.)

Time with my dh

Cats (my dh says 5 are enough)

frogs ( I have 8 baby ones at the moment, so that may be enough)

This is a fun post.

Bags - I have way too many backpacks and messenger bags.

This past summer, I was looking at LL Bean's totes, with the thought that I would get one for DD. They were on sale and I think had free monogramming at the time. Only, when I showed it to dd, she was pretty lukewarm; she already had a couple of bags for the beach and couldn't see a need for one. So I bought myself one. But when it arrived (with free monogramming, lol!) I had to ask myself WHY in the WORLD did I buy myself another one of these bags! I don't need one AT ALL. The main one I already use for this purpose is actually better suited to it because it is dark blue, so it takes a lot of abuse before it looks scruffy. The new one is cream colored...doh.

I love those darned totes, though.

Oh, coffee, how could I leave out coffee? And I need tips from you people who say plants. I would love to have more plants in the house, but I don’t know what the best option is for low maintenance, low light tolerant plants!

Cat litter - don't ever want to run out of that

Friends

I'm trying to decide if it's significant that I put cat litter first...

DH really does not like cats, but as we have run out of cat litter more than once, I think he would agree with that!
