You've been warned! If crotch sweat is more than you want to read about, get out now!

Anywho...my leggings and my shirt are quick dry materials. But...my underwear have the typical cotton crotch. Which ends up soaking wet with sweat when I'm working out hard. Which feels gross, especially AFTER the workout when I'm cooled down and now walking around with gross wet undies while making lunch or whatever. (I often workout right before lunch or dinner so kids are getting feral and need to eat when I'm done)

So I guess I want quick dry material underwear? That don't ride up my rear, and no I do not find thongs comfy. Bonus if they don't show much under leggings, but generally my shirt hides that anyway, so not a huge deal. I just want them to not be cotton and to stay in place. I'd love higher rise, so they don't roll down into my csection scar area, or be low enough they stay at/under it.

I'm also looking for comfy sports bras that don't dig into my shoulders or leave my bOOKs hanging at my waist. Again, quick dry material. Today had a cotton blend sports bra on and it was wet and gross while I tucked the kids in after a late workout.

I have a set of FOTL Everlight (in low rise briefs) that I save for extra sweaty events. Going to the zoo in the summer?...I wear these.  Anything where I'll be sweating profusely, I wear these. They are thiiiiiin/mesh-like and slippy.  I usually cannot abide anything other than cotton with a covered waistband and leg openings, but these are (for some strange reason) okay with me.

I wear wool underwear (yes, I live in NZ). It dries quickly, and doesn't cause yeast infections like synthetics. Lots of colors and styles here.

Those look great... but $35 for one pair of panties? 😮

Yup. But they last and they are a lot cheaper than a yeast infection. My younger ds loves them, so he gets wool underwear for his birthday gift because they are so expensive.  Mens:

Are they machine wash/dry? How long do they last?

I remember seeing this brand at REI a couple of years ago and they recommended it for hiking ...

I wash them in 40 degrees C.  I hang them to dry, which they do overnight.  I have 7 pairs, and they have lasted 3 years so far, but I am careful not to wash them with zippers. They are merino wool, so super soft.

The difference is like night and day compared to cotton.

I have some inexpensive microfiber undies I picked up at Walmart. They're a pack of FOTL or Hanes, one of those six pairs for $10 or so deals. I think what I have is very similar to what @alisoncookslinked to. They work very well for sweaty times. But I've never had any problem with yeast infections in my life, so . . . FWIW. Actually, I don't understand how they could contribute to yeast infections, since they dry so much better than other underwear. I'd think if anything they'd help prevent infections. But . . definitely not an area I know much about, thankfully!

I’m stingy with clothes but if you can’t stretch wool is seriously worth paying for.

Sorry this is probably a super awkward question but hey...

Are they itchy?  We have wool masks which haven’t ended up being needed much for Covid but have been good for hay fever for my allergy kid but he does find it slightly irritating.

Like QueenCat, commando under leggings!

Same, I find it very uncomfortable to wear underwear with workout leggings that are already tight.

I also shower after working out too.

And I have some quick dry underwear I bought at Ross that I wear when I do wear underwear, they were maybe a few dollars a pair, are comfy and don't have panty lines.

I found a pair of old underwear in my drawer that feel good, are wicking/quick dry, and stay in place during yoga, and don't show! But...dear lord they are not attractive. Seems you can't have everything. Now, to figure out what they are and get more I guess.....poor DH, they really are old lady panties.

I bought a pair of icebreaker wool leggings (they look like long underwear) three or four years ago that I wear in winter in So. Cal (so admittedly not that often) under a long T-shirt, sweatshirt, or nightgown in the early mornings/ evenings at home when it is cold. They are so incredibly comfortable and do not itch. I bought them in May or June for only $25 (was $89). Every winter I go on the icebreaker website to buy another pair but everything is so expensive. If you buy in the late spring or early summer they have really good sales. I just looked again right now and am debating whether to buy another pair for a Christmas treat for me.

Someone needs to revive this thread in a May.

I actually recently bought those and am wearing a pair, but they don't fit right. they slide up my bottom all the time and the top is a weird height that ends up bunching up in the apron fold/c-section scar.

I may have just bought them too big?

Just ordered a pack of these to try - I think these are similar to the old ones I found in my drawer, except I think the old ones are the briefs. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LW2VGOJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My favorite ever undies (except not for working out) are fruit of the loom but not really made anymore. So I'm hopeful one of their other kinds will work.

No way.  I can't stand wool clothes because of the itch factor, but icebreaker merino is something special. I don't find the scratchy at all.  Worth every dollar to stay clean and dry and not get yeast infections which I was getting on a monthly basis before I switched. I haven't had one since wearing wool underwear!

My kid wears Fruit of the Loom Breathable Micro-Mesh panties and she's always trying to get me to switch over because they are so comfortable.

Those have a 100 percent cotton liner, which I'm trying to avoid. once upon a time cotton was the only breathable option, so we all got used to cotton crotch underwear. The alternative was non breathable synthetic. But now they have breathable, synthetic, quick dry fabrics so I'm trying to stick with that. Otherwise that cotton crotch is gross when I sweat 😞

I’m the queen of the 5-minute shower.  I’m skipping my hair, but I feel human, and dry, faster. They can wait 5 minutes.  Seriously. Just lay your clothes out before your workout and it’s all good.

Girl, take the time to shower after you work out. It's 10 minutes. Even if they are feral, your kids are old enough to scrounge a snack.  Even my 3 year olds knew how to take their snack box out of the fridge and feed themselves. ( I preloaded with with red peppers and crackers.)

Also, fwiw, I think this is a matter of self care which we should model to our children. We should take time to work out daily. We should take time to shower and care for our bodies.  We can be self-sufficient in feeding ourselves in healthy ways.  We can respect other people's time for self care.

If your kids are naturally wired to be feral (and believe me, most of mine are), it's doubly important that we teach them boundaries so that they don't grow up clueless as adults.  I voice the expectation out loud before I do something in part because some in my household need the explicit teaching. "I"m going to go do yoga for 30 minutes.  If you get too hungry to wait for lunch, your snack box is still in the fridge, and you can eat at the table.  I expect you to do xyz activity (I usually choose silent reading time for 30 minutes) and when the timer goes off, I want you to put your books away and do abc. When I've finished and showered, I will make lunch.

Teaching your kids to follow directed activity for 45 minutes is so important for elementary aged kids.  For the preschool crowd, I turn on either an audio book and pull out the legos or I turn on the video for the day. My preschool aged children had their own shelf with their stainless steel plates and cups.  I leave a dirty dishwasher open so that they can put their dishes in there when they are done.  I don't know that I'd have to be so structured if I just had 1-2 kids, but this is large family survival skills 101, imo.

Thank you all! The reminder that it is okay to take a quick shower was needed. Honestly, this sounds dumb typing it out, but in my head, 'I'm going to take a bath later and soak, so it's silly to take a shower now too". But you are right, there is no reason I can't take a quick 5 minute shower AND a bath later! I am really enjoying my evening hot baths with lavender epsom salts but I can do both.

I STILL prefer my undies not to be a hot wet mess, lol. But that doesn't mean I can't shower 🙂

Of course, that means two outfits a day, sigh.

THIS is why you have girlfriends. A mother will jump through the most ridiculous hoops to spare her family a moment of work or discomfort.  Your family will just LET YOU DO THIS like it’s all normal and okay. We need other women to remind us that we deserve five minutes to take care of ourselves. I blame hormones. Mother Nature drugged us!

I think you should take three baths just to assert yourself. 🤣

Well, to my credit, during a way longer than I thought it would be zoom workout I realized it was dinner time and I had another 30 minutes to go. So I shouted out for DD10 to heat up leftover pasta and feed everyone rather than stopping. Was very proud of myself!

Ok, so those underwear I posted are totally working out!!! Love them! they are staying in place, don't get all wet and yucky mid workout, etc.

Also, got a new bra today, and wore it for the 15 minute walk at home workout (has arm movements, knee lifts, etc...more than just walking) and love it so far! It's so light, and yet it has actual compression to hold my girls up, instead of just relying on the shoulder straps. And dries fast. It is this one: https://amzn.to/36JwxCH

I have a similar, off brand one coming tomorrow I think - this one: https://amzn.to/2IKYmma
