drjuliadc Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Because I am very good at rote memorization, but not as good at problem solving, I always thought that problem solving was a higher level of thinking. After speaking to some engineer patients, they both told me they are terrible at rote memorization. So it is really just a different way of thinking. I think part of this is being unimpressed by things that come easily to you, but impressed by those that don’t. I am 55 and sometimes I am shocked at the things I haven’t realized yet. I am so smart and so stupid at the same time. Haha. OK, well being slow in the office and having more time to actually talk to people might have something to do with it. 2 Quote

I've said it before - I am boggled with what I don't know. I've noticed people who recognize they know much but that there is still more to learn are pleasant people to talk with as there is this volley of ideas and thoughts, a sort of, "Consider this..." exchange. Cheer yourself with the thought that most people aren't humbled or interested that they don't know things. Instead they persevere in impressing upon others what they DO know. The former is the attitude of the lifelong learner. 4 Quote

I mean, I'm happy with the things I know, I'm proud of them, I use them well... but there is so much I do not know. And I hope I can still learn more. That's been a fun part of homeschooling 🙂 . 1 Quote
