gardenmom5 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 I'm starting dudeling with a somatic therapist. (also good for retained reflexes, and we might have some of that going on too.) I've done so many things before to try and help him, never explicit to him that my goal was his body and his brain working together (instead of doing their own thing). We've also done different types of therapy - which he'd cooperate with for awhile, then hate and refuse to even get in the car. So - now, trying the somatic therapist that 1dd (asd) has been seeing, with phenomenal results. It occurred to me this time, that a possible reason for his 'reticence" (to put it VERY politely) is his body has always been in defense mode and he is uncomfortable (or even down right frightened) by his body relaxing. anyone have experience with a kid who was so afraid of lowering their defenses they would refuse help when they started to make progress? did you find something that helped?
