This sounds very interesting.   Thank you for posting.

Is any of the Jewish population in Japan tied to Chiune Sugihara?  He wrote transit visas for Jews from Lithuania to "transit" through Japan to other countries during WWII.

There was a movie made about him.  None of his neighbors even knew about his wartime activities until the Israeli Ambassador to Japan showed up at his funeral.

Jewish people visit his grave several times a year (pre-Covid).  I've never gone; it's pretty far from our (in Japan) homebase of Tokyo.  He doesn't have any Jewish descendants. It's a really cool story of a man who stood up for what was/is right, no matter the consequences. May his memory be a blessing.

His memory is an inspiration for all who learn his story.  And a testament of what one man can do.

I was just wondering if any of the Jews he was able to get visas  ended up staying in Japan.

I'm pretty sure no one stayed.  There were old Russian Jewish communities in Japan from the late 1800s.  But not overlap with these refugees as far as I know. Except perhaps in Kobe to a limited degree.
