Scarlett Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 I was able to dispute the insurance company's offer and get my parents $2416 more on their vehicle which totaled. 🙂   41 3 Quote

Thank you!  My dad is doing fine physically I think. I am taking him to his GP tomorrow and I hope he gets some physical therapy. But his pain level is managable. My mom is coming home on Thursday....and she is in a lot of pain. My fear is they won't let her have the pain meds she needs thanks to the wonderful state laws. 2 8 Quote

stephanier.1765 Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 That's amazing! How did you do it because I stink at that sort of thing. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's pain. I completely and sadly understand fighting the system to get the meds you need. I wish you all the best in getting your father PT and you mother pain medication. 1 Quote

Withholding necessary pain meds, especially from the elderly, is one of the things that makes me absolutely incandescent with rage. I looked after a disabled relative for 20 years who relied on prescription anxiety meds for most of his life, and the last few years his severe arthritis made his life almost unbearable without pain meds. When his regular doctor left the practice, the new doctor immediately — and I mean immediately, within minutes of the first appointment — wanted to take him off both the anxiety med and the pain med. Let's just say that this doctor was not prepared for the intensity of my reaction, lol. The idea that an 87 year old man should be forced to live out his remaining years with crippling anxiety and unbearable pain so he wouldn't become "dependent" on the medications that made his life bearable is just insane. Punish the pharmaceutical executives who push these drugs and the doctors that profit from overprescribing them, don't literally torture the people who actually need them! I hope you are as successful in getting your mom the meds she needs as you have been in dealing with the insurance company!  3 Quote

I think she will be able to get the pain meds to get her through this accident recovery but I sure hope they don't make her go to the pain clinic to do so. It is a 30 minute drive each way. Quote
