Mrs Tiggywinkle Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 So my husband and I are spending the week in a rented lake cottage. I brought some special Lush bath bombs that I was saving for my birthday. I just got in and used this one: https://www.lushusa.com/bath/bath-bombs/deep-sleep/9999909208.html Um...I didn’t realize you were supposed to leave the muslin on and now I am in Bath water covered in leaves. How do I clean it off myself? And the tub? This is a rented cottage so I don’t have much cleaning supplies and none of the towels are mine. No rags. omg. I get myself into the worst situations. (on top of that I still have no sense of smell so couldn’t even smell it) Quote
Mrs Tiggywinkle Posted October 30, 2020 Author Posted October 30, 2020 Just now, MissLemon said: Can't you just shower the leaves off? Yes, but how do I clean them out of the tub? If I use a bath towel to wipe it out, can I throw it into the washer and it will all be okay? There’s a lot of chamomile and lavender leaves and small herbs floating here. If I was home I’d just use an old towel I could then throw away. Quote
Emba Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 For cleaning the tub : Paper towels? Tee shirt? 1 Quote
Shoeless Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Are there wash cloths available? I would use a wash cloth to scoop up the leaves and then shake it out into the trash. It should be fine in the wash. Worst case scenario, they say "Hey, you owe us $4 for a new wash cloth". 3 Quote

The nearest store is 30 minutes away and technically DH and I are both under quarantine, though his ends at midnight tonight so he’d probably be okay running out. I have symtoms and am waiting on test results, but he hasn’t had any at all and the health department told him his ends at midnight. Quote
Lecka Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Let it dry out a bit and use toilet paper, throw it in the trash? A sock? An underwear? Quote
Shoeless Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 There's got to be something there you can use. Coffee filters? If there are no paper towels or any sort of small, washable linens available, I'd either scoop up the leaves with my hand or grab one of my socks and wipe it out, lol. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 I would scoop as much as I can just with my hands. Or you could use a plastic bag to help snag them. The smaller bits remaining could probably go down the drain without a problem (I am talking really small bits). 2 Quote
Shoeless Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Maybe put a wash cloth over the drain to try to catch as many leaves as possible while the tub drains? Quote

Mrs Tiggywinkle Posted October 30, 2020 Author Posted October 30, 2020 This is what it looks like. I can’t believe I didn’t stop to think why the bath bomb was wrapped in muslin. I’m trying to use the muslin to scoop it out. Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 (edited) I would put the Muslin in the drain to stop the leaves going down and then try to kind of swish it down by pouring leaves down the sides edited to say - pouring water down the sides! Pouring leaves certainly won’t help Edited October 30, 2020 by Ausmumof3 Quote
Ausmumof3 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Oh I see from you pic that won’t work! Maybe toilet paper then? Quote
Calm37 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Get as much as you can on the mat, take the mat outside and let it all dry overnight. My mat like that does go in the washer. Quote
PeterPan Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Is there a broom in the house? You could let the tub dry and then broom them to a corner or even up and onto the floor. 2 Quote
SKL Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 This may be too late, but have you tried unscrewing the plug so you can then use a piece of cloth as a filter and rinse down the tub? Lefty loosey .... 1 Quote
Pen Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Is there a rental office? If yes, ask if someone could drop off paper towels or similar, maybe a spritzer bottle, that could be used to clean up leaves If not, try to brush using hands or an item of clothes or whatever you have as much as possible onto the mat, then assuming mat comes up, try to shake mat off outdoors repeat Quote
