4KookieKids Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I would like to introduce my kids to a greater variety of cultural/ethnic foods. If you have ties with other cultures, would you share any authentic heritage recipes (not sure if this is the right word?) that you and your children love? If there's any cultural or historical significance you're able to share, I'd love it if you could include it as well! Bonus points if the amount of spiciness is adjustable for anyone here who may be a spice-wimp. Quote
73349 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 I liked the book A Good Soup Attracts Chairs for West African food. We don't really eat the food of our own ethnic backgrounds, so I can't advise on those, sorry. 1 Quote
Zoo Keeper Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 My dad loved making ployes -- https://www.farmersalmanac.com/what-are-ployes-28910 The link gives a recipe and a bit of history. He enjoyed putting peanut butter on them and adding sausage (pig in a blanket style). 🙂 Ployes are also good with fried apples and onions on top-- or plain with butter and dipped in soup/stews. 2 Quote
