Today is National Black Cat Appreciation Day, which is lovely.  And there's a Ginger Cat Appreciation Day, and a Tabby Cat Day, and a Siamese Cat Day, and a Tuxedo Cat Day.  Plus a Drink Wine with Your Cat Day and a Take Your Cat to Work Day, which is not really a popular holiday among most cats.

But there is no Calico Cat Appreciation Day.

This is an abomination!

As the “mom” of a lovely Tortie, I have to say I am also offended.

Not really. But I’m willing to act outraged, too, for a minute, and then I have to move my complaint bracelet to the other wrist and stop complaining.

I have a calico and a tortoise shell.   Or possibly a regular calico and dilute calico.

This seems very unfair, but at least not unfair as between the two of them.   How sad if one got a special celebration and the other were Cinderella with nothing 🙃

(I’ve already messed up my no complaints day so much that another today hardly seems to matter.)

I’m outraged on your cat’s behalf.     Is there a ‘Cats are Jerks’ Day?   I’ve got one who is a big fat jerk and he really needs his own day.

Obama, my tuxedo cat, is also a jerk.  We named him when we thought he was just a playful, active, rambunctious kitten.  He would be in favor of Cats Are Jerks Day.

Sweet Scout, the calico, is sad that nobody appreciates her and her toothless gums and farts that smell faintly of cabbage.

Oh no. You do have unfair situation as between the two.

I know,  put both in some black coal and celebrate them both as black cats...

wait shouldn’t black cats day be on Halloween?

We used to have an actual black cat named Trinity.  She died on Halloween about six years ago.  My husband felt very goth digging a grave for his black cat on Halloween.

I have two calicos who don’t get along because each one thinks she is Queen of the House.

Calicos tend to get adopted quickly from shelters, so maybe that makes up for not having their own special day.

My calico, Scout, is very pretty and very sweet, but also really, really dumb.

Her mother, who showed up pregnant and starving on our doorstep on Christmas Eve, was a Siamese.  Genetics are weird.

I love black cats and have a couple, but I also have a new calico cat little sister, so I'll have to be offended with you.

And your name is mom2scouts, and my calico cat is named Scout!

The question is:  on Calico Cat Appreciation Day, do I have to prepare fish flavored cupcakes for all the other neighborhood cats, or just for my own beautiful calico cat?

What about her tuxedo brother?

So beautiful, @TechWife. We had a gorgeous longhaired black cat named Thor but he had to be put down due to kidney disease. I miss our ThorBear. He was such a funny guy.

I'm sorry he had to be put down.  Kidney disease seems to be so common among cats of a certain age.  It really sucks.
