Reefgazer Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 I need bra advice. For years, I've bought Lane Bryant bras, but in recent years they've gone downhill - wires popping out, rough fabric, and elastic stretching prematurely are my main complaints. I tried Torrid and found cheap elastic, as well. So I am on the hunt for a top-quality bra. My requirements: Fits a large bust (40DD), underwire, excellent support, unlined or lightly-lined. Any ideas? Quote
Danae Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 I buy all my bras from https://www.breakoutbras.com They are pricy, but always good quality and they specialize in fitting larger sizes. And they have periodic sales, and sharply discounted “grab bags” of discontinued styles. 1 Quote
SounderChick Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 Goddess bras are what I get. https://www.goddessbra.com 1 Quote
marbel Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 I've been buying these; they work better for me than anything else I've tried, including way more expensive ones. Not all colors in 40DD. (I buy 38DD.) Maidenform Women's Comfort Devotion Embellished Bra (link to Amazon) Quote
Bambam Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 (edited) I just tried Glamorise this spring when they had a sale (40% off), and I really, really like them. Good support, pretty colors, comfortable. I did have to size up a band size (look at how they measure because it is different than most). I didn't get the right size the first time, but free returns/free shipping, and they were very helpful. They shipped out the replacements before they got the return. Since then I got another one, but these are kinda pricey, so I'm getting one when I catch them on sale. I'm hoping they have a Black Friday sale! ETA: I prefer a front closure, and this is one of the few brands that offer front closure in the larger sizes. I have no idea about the longevity of these bras. I've worn the two original and the one additional exclusives since I ordered in April (?), I hand wash (except a couple of times I got real sweaty, so I put them in a mesh bag in the washer with regular laundry but air dried them), and they still look like new. https://glamorise.com/ Edited October 23, 2020 by Bambam Quote
prairiewindmomma Posted October 23, 2020 Posted October 23, 2020 I'm the same size. I'd steer you away from Soma. I bought 6 bras from this last year, and the quality is not what it was when I purchased from them a couple of years previously. The support wasn't there, and I had an underwire issue. Wacoal is my next pick. Quote
Starr Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Flower Bali , at the Hanes outlet, in stores and online. There is often a sale. Quote
QueenCat Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 Panache and Elomi are favorites for me. I'm larger in the bust than you are & these are very supportive. Quote
bibiche Posted October 24, 2020 Posted October 24, 2020 (edited) @Reefgazer Even if you end up buying from somewhere else, check out the sizing info on the Breakout Bras site. It is different from that of most places (much smaller band size and larger cup size) and I personally found it leads to a much better fit. I have purchased from Breakout Bras, Her Room, and Figleaves and been happy with all of them. Edited October 24, 2020 by bibiche Quote
KungFuPanda Posted October 25, 2020 Posted October 25, 2020 Wait, so we’re wearing bras during this pandemic? Good to know. 6 Quote
