Teaching3bears Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 This is hard to describe: My fabric and paper lampshade is held up around a round metal frame with a narrow fabric border trim that was glued in place with sticky glue. The glue has mostly dried. I put it back on and it held but after 20 minutes it fell due to gravity. What can I use to stick it back on? I called the crazy glue company and they said not to use it on fabric. I know there are fabric glues. Will they work with the gravity problem? The border is a somewhat silky/nylony fabric and the shade is pleated/folded so the border does not touch the whole thing. They are both white thin fabric so I need something that will not stain or show through. All I have at home is crazy glue, white school glue and wood glue. I have double-sided tape somewhere but I can’t seem to find it. Quote

BeachGal Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 Rubber cement will make a very solid bond if you apply it to both sides that need to bond. So, if you have Thing A you're trying to glue to glue to Thing B, you would apply a layer of rubber cement to both Thing A and Thing B, let the rubber cement dry thoroughly, then apply A to B. The bond will be very strong. You didn't mention that you have rubber cement, but it does make for a very strong bond. Quote
itsheresomewhere Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) Aleene’s Tacky glue is the best. I have used crazy glue on fabric and you wouldn’t know it. I used it to glue a boarder to special lampshade part of a nightlight. Use very little. Any chance you have a hot glue gun? That will fix it. I have used it on a few fabrics in a pinch.
