fourisenough Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Is anyone aware of an online U.S. history class based on The 1619 Project? https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/08/14/magazine/1619-america-slavery.html DD will need a good, meaty history class for 12th grade next year. She has taken Ancient History in 9th, U.S. Government in 10th, and AP Psychology in 11th. She isn’t a particular history lover, but she’s intellectually curious and very academically-minded so something taught at a high level without a massive amount of output required would be ideal. She would bristle at any course with a politically conservative viewpoint. She lives away from home in a pre-pro ballet program, so an online class is needed rather than just a list of resources. Thanks for any ideas! Quote
RubyPenn Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 The 1619 Project goes way beyond a politically liberal viewpoint into complete falsehoods. I imagine there are much better options out there than that piece of propaganda, such as some of the Great Courses. Check out this declaration by scholars who have come out against it. https://www.nas.org/blogs/article/pulitzer-board-must-revoke-nikole-hannah-jones-prize. 3 Quote
